Greetings Mike,
Nice design. A few suggestions; Are you selling your twitter, fb and youtube accounts? The answer is probably no. So make those smaller and make your comments about your services and the photos at the bottom of the first page stand out more. Plus, you don't need them on your page twice. Currently you have them at the top and at the bottom of the page. Also, the photo of you holding the cards kinda over used. Maybe consider a different photo, a bit more creative, something reflects you and your personality! Plus, you have a contact page and you also have your email and phone number HUGE across the top section of the page, plus its at the bottom of the page. The top space should be used to SELL YOU, or go with the design. Cheers mate....

Thank you Curtis. I agree with the photo of me, but as of now, it was the only one available at the moment. The reason for the huge email and phone is to get them to contact me with ease and not search for it. Perhaps a smaller email and phone number may be in order. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it and will take your opinion into consideration.

I agree about twitter, FB and Youtube.
I think the phone and email size and position are ok. Maybe slightly less prominent. If had a dollar for every time I tore my hair out trying to find those items . . . . The other pictures in your sight are more interesting but I agree that they are too informal for the home page. Except . . . the version on your Bio page with the flying cards is more interesting. |

Gomerel,
After looking at the pictures on the homepage, you are right. They are too informal and I will have them changed. Ok, seems the twitter, FB, and youtube icons need to be reduced. Thank you for the suggestions. Please keep them coming. Cheers, Mike |

Mike,
Definitely get a better picture up top. And get it lit properly. All I see on that picture is your head, shirt & tie and hand of cards. I can't see your right side because it blends into black on black. Only other suggestion would be make your entire image across the top half or even 70% shorter. When the page loads all I see is you and your social media accounts. I have to scroll below the fold to see anything. |

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I think the informal pictures at the bottom of your home page are great. I meant they were too informal to be the main one at the top. I was looking at them to see if you have a livelier one. The current one is kind of stiff and formal.

Over all I think it has a great feel
agree the youtube twitter and FB are way to big and should be placed at the bottom why advertise them and not yourself. now as for the email at the top and the bottom. I am ok with them maybe a bit smaller at the top but if you want that big as you say so that they can easily contact you then MAKE THEM HYPER LINKS MEANING let me click them so that it auto opens the email to you. neither one the top nor the bottom open to email thus I have to type in all the stuff. I know it may seem trivial but it is one little step to make it easier for your clients to contact you. just a thought oh and yes the picture with the cards at the top not a fan of that. however if you wanted to make that "your thing" then thru out all your pictures with fans and clients always hold a deck of cards that way. I for years have done a split fan with every picture I have taken. I have however recently made a new site as well and not using that idea any more although still some times take the photos with the cards. have fun with it. sam

The last few words kill the sentence: "All of Mike's material is appropriate, professional, and does not embarrass anyone." The words make you sound as though you are amateur, not sure you know what you are doing. Instead of ending the sentence with words you do not do bad, end it with words that you are good. For example: "...and keeps everyone entertained."

Agree with the note about twitter/fb/etc... move those to a much lower
priority. I personally would put in that place a very strong, benefit oriented headline with a call to action (as I am a big direct-response marketing guy...) Love you have testimonials so prominently featured. My only nit may be with in the testimonial roll where you have the one for the six year old kids... that kind of implies "kids birthday party" which doesn't mesh 100% with I take to be the intended audience for the site, which is programs for adults. Absolutely LOVE the picture of the young lady bottom center expressing incredible joy/amazement... great photo. I think a performance reel of some sort on the home page would be a good addition... people would want to see you in action and having it there front and center would be great. As I said earlier, I'm a big fan of direct response principles so I think you could include some kind of offer and a clear call to action on the site... imply scarcity and the need to act now to take advantage before it's too late. Very professionally done site in terms of graphics, etc. Adding an FAQ page might be a good idea... not only does it give you a chance to address possible questions/objections, it is a great place to add text that helps with SEO.

I think the site has great potential. And it seriously sells what you do: close up magic.
A few thoughts, since you asked: I'd take the copy to a professional. Maybe ask at radio station advertising departments. There are some very good sales writers there. Offer them a contract to re-write your copy because it's flat and repetitive. Offer them a couple of hundred dollars. It'll be money well invested. I think you give far too much attention to Facebook etc. The presence of the three boxes totally dominates the opening page...and it should be you. Maybe you should say what restaurants you're working at currently? I also think the line about Chicago being home to a pile of great magicians doesn't help to sell YOU. Just a few thoughts...because you asked. Love the pictures of interaction with audiences. David

Perhaps you could emphasise that you are new to the area and bring a new fresh style of performing close up. Otherwise, you should relate how Chicago being home to many magicians has helped or inspired you to perfect your act in a unique way. The overall look of your site I really like. |

Love the design. OK, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter Buttons are a little big.
Your Email-Addres should be clickable! |

W'up Mike!!!
I'm going to voice a different opinion here. I like the social media buttons. It is a great way to keep in touch with your fans and show them you are a busy pro. In fact, I immediately went to your fan page and liked it : -) I like the website a lot, hope you get lots of gigs from it my man!
