This question has been asked before and my answer is still the same. The penny in the matchbox is my favorite Magical effect, hands down. I don't think anything short of real magic can beat the Magic of this effect (and there are many different ways to present it). I am not saying that it is the best Magic out there, what I am saying is I have yet to find such a simple and non-Magical looking set of apparatus that is more Magical than this effect. I love watching it, performing it and especially seeing the look on the spectators eyes when the Magic happens. This effect used to sell for $1.00 in the 60's and today never sells for more than $5.00 (unless you are at some tourist trap). The effect is sort of a mini metamorphasis.

Just ordered Jay Sankeys 'In a Flash' and I think it will be a killer. 'Invisible Deck' is great but I think 'Brainwave' blows them away,

Umm Would either be "Red Hot Mamma" for cards or "Hopping Half" for coins.

Just give me about five 1/2 dollars and a Sharpie and I'd be set for a long time.

"The Pothole Trick" by Michael close, very magical and blows people away. Best of all, it uses a common item not normally associated with magic; a business card.

The one I have the most fun with, is a 2 card transposition with 2 people. People realy love simple, hard to fathom, magic.

At the moment it has got to be my Not So Gaffless Hopping Halves. Both coins may be borrowed. Other than that OOTW still kills.
Peace, Rannie PS Pablo I wish to see your effect " My Friend Vinny " . If it has Vinny's name , its got to be good. I also made an effect called "The Godfather's Invisible Palm" and I also want to dedicate it to our friend Vinny. Take Care, Rannie

I still get the best reactions from sponge balls. People never get over them jumping to their hands or going through my pocket. I still have people come up to me and ask me how I cover the holes in my pants after it goes through!

I'll tell you what a old friend of mine, magician told me once:
"all tricks are good, it only depends in your presentation" I Like so many of the effects that I perform... Crazy man's handcuffs, stuff with the TT , twisting arm... scotch and soda... and so on.. |

Hello:
This seems context sensitive. My choice for Card Trick would be Triumph as I teach it on my Zarrow Vid. Why? For sheer magical impact I have found no other routine like it. For coins it would be Spellbound. Again, for something that just LOOKS like real magic there are few tricks that can come close. My favorite single trick in any catagory is my Chop Cup routine. Why? It can be done standup at a table and surrounded and yet two large loads still show up at the end. I've lost track of the times I've done it and it still kills 'em. Over against Cups and Balls, which I also like, Chop Cup has the advantage of being more focused. The production at the end I think is a level above the best Cups and Balls because of this focus. There is NO confusion possible. One cup, examined and then used to vanish and appear a small ball cleanly and without mess. Just when teh audience thinks they have you...bang! Two impossibly solid large balls or oranges or whatever appear in the cup. Best,
Brad Burt

I'm fairly new to magic, but my favorite trick is Jazz Aces as taught on ETMCM vol. 3. It always gets great reactions.
