Dean,

What service do you use for the video/name concept. I have thought about using this in our proposals , but wanted to see how other entertainers have applied this... Any links my friend? Pvt me if you wish.

Suuure! I use all kinds of stuff... I'm out so you can Google Them if you don't already know them. I'm a simple guy and the tools are widely known. No really "Top Secret" success revealed or anything like that... anyone can just Google free (Fill In Your Blank Here) and get something going.

Screen Capture:
- Jing (I think JingProject.com ..its the free sister to Camtasia)
- ScreenR
- Screen Cast O Matic

Video:
- Windows Movie Maker (Microsoft... BOTH live and v2.6... both free from MS for different reasons/applications)
- Amimoto
- My Logitech webcam and software

Audio:
Audacity
Vocaroo (Spelling?)

All FREE ...a bunch of others for each situation that I don’t remember cuz I just hit them on my computer.

Hope That Serves…

Camtasia for sure is a great tool. As Dean mentioned, making a very personal, custom video for certains potential clients reaches them on a completely different level. With Camtasia you could be speaking directly to the client(camera) and still show in a lower third or other part of your screen, live show shots, crowds, accolades, references, etc.

Once the show is booked, you could make another video. Doing a walk thru of your load in, set up, tech needs, etc. Again it is super personal on such a different level. It can also lay out things in such a clear way. The show has a bigger chance of being a success and going off without a hitch.

There are certains markets where this would not work as well or make as much sense. But plenty of markets where it is an invaluable tool.

We have made custom video countdowns and introductions, but never a custom video proposal.
I know about the editing programs, I was looking for the programs where the human or character speaks your message type of program. I have looked into this but is is about @300-$500 to $2,500 for each design.

But, was looking for a program where you can just plug in your words and walla it does what you want... lol Smile

Curtis,
I think those programs have their place. But I think when trying to reach a single person, group, company, etc...that a more personal video with YOU would come across better, especially if you are trying to sell a personality based show.

I’m with Kevin here, at least based on what I’ve used this ‘high-tech to high-touch’ tools and resources for… assuming I understand what he is saying as well.

Oh sure, you CAN develop and Spielberg-like sales/promotions type video proposal, but that is not what I was referring to here. YES, a killer video productions a cool…

What I was referring to and I ‘think’ what Kevin is commenting on as well is the simple, low-tech, real, relationship communication video(s)… no need to make this more than it is, this is just YOU talking (authentically communicating) and advancing the relationship and ‘just-so-happen’ to be using VIDEO to do it so they can SEE that you are a real person and so on… nuthin overly fancy at this point.

YES, it is “ALSO” a good strategy to ‘shock and awe’ style packaging of your professional video by adding a “PERSONALISED” introduction or addition to your regular professionally edited promo/demo, but that is a totally different thing that just sending off ‘personal’ (relational) video communication from one nice guy to another.

I THINK that is why some don’t use this stuff more cuz they think it is more than it is…

“K.I.S.S.” – Keep It Super Simple and just DO IT and if my experience is any indication (as well as for those who I have shared this with) you will see a significant up-tick in your results pretty quickly and as you begin to get comfortable with it all it will be easier than sittng down to TYPE out a plane ol’ email ND get much better response all at the same time.

It’s all about “P2P”! Not the ol’ B2B (Business To Business) B2C (Business To Consumer)… etc – It’s about PEOPLE TO PEOPLE! – Heck, even the CEO or leader of any major corporation, organization (etc) are all PEOPLE and if you respect their time and resources you will be more respected in return as the professional you are.

The SAME principles all apply… no matter the medium; “It’s All About Them” and the solution and real results you can deliver to and for them… but that is a given. (I would think anyway…)

Simply put: Just be a good guy that has real solution for them and respect them, their time and communicate authentically from the heart. This is NOT some ‘marketing ploy or strategy’. This is just communicating in a more engaging and enlivened way using the current, relevant “High-Tech” to reach out and “High-Touch” up your relationships.

Sorry… a bit out of sorts right now so I hope that makes some sense. Just add value and communicate from the heart you’re your relationship with a web-cam running… doesn’t have to be “Produced” or fancy. - - Quite the contrary… just you and a camera of some kind depending on where you are an what you aim to communicate is all.

OK… gotta’ jet and I hope that makes some sense anyway. - - Remember… K.I.S.S., ok?

Hope That Serves…

I pay for GIg Masters, plus have Gig Salad free ad and several other free sights as well. As someone said earlier, I get a lot from GM in the way of leads but book very few of them. Also, the economy turned where I live so its been a lackluster second half of the year (first half was very good however).

I could have answered this easily last year. I would say my websites found by Google have been the best so far this year.

60% of my business comes from the parent guide. In my area it works very well for children's shows.

Previous clients
They are companies and people that bring me back every year, this New Year's Eve will be my 5th with the same Gala
I'm very lucky, these clients know they have to book months in advance, some book me for the next year as soon as the performance is over
Great customer service and a good quality product are my best advertising
A big plus ..... the customer acquisition cost has already been fulfilled with repeat clients
