Magical folks:

I already own Shryock's Ring in Walnut DVD. It takes a fair amount of prep time, which has kept me from performing Ring in Walnut more often. Would Marvelous Nut Dropper offer anything in terms of ease and speed of preparation--it clearly allows a quicker load time--to a performer? Second, how important is a nut cracker like the one recommended by Matthew? Shrycock's routine uses a standard metal one, which I own, but Matthew Wright's nut cracker is something that would be much hard for me to find. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Preperation is a lot quicker, I have had a similar experience like yourself where I never ended up doing the Shryock version.

The nut cracker used has nothing to do with the trick, it's just a good style to use so you don't damage the ring.

If you type "wood nut cracker" into Ebay you will find plenty that are quite cheap.

As well as these if you want to do the bar set we have just taken in the 3 shells from School for Scoundrels and also the DVD set. They are not cheap but are very good quality and the perfect items if this is something you want to do.

I picked this up in Blackpool along with the fourseen wallet, after practicing with it for the last few weeks last ight I used both at a parlour show. The nut dropper worked like a charm and got a huge reaction when the nut was cracked and the ring appeared. The load is exactly as it says on the tin. You can load it one handed really fast and easily. I didn't use a routine off the dvd but did one similar to one Mathew used at Blackpool. I am very happy with this and it will have a permanent place in my parlour shows.

I got mine last month and think it is value for money , ok the gimmick is simple but you do get all the other routines and explanations as well.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

Glad you guys are liking the Nutdroppers. George yes....the gimmick is simple...but it is designed that way. I went through many prototypes to get to what you now own. They have been specially manufactured to my exact requirements. For example, If it were any larger it would split the fruit. If it were any smaller the walnuts you could use would not be large enough to fit a ring inside.

Little things like that are what you are paying for. That plus as you say the routines that come with it.

Keep dropping those nuts boys! X

Magic Zone,

Thanks so much for information on MND. It seems from what you've said that it's an improvement over Ring in Walnut. Also, thanks for the heads-up on the nut cracker. I'm going to do as you suggest as soon as I sign off from the Café.

Magical folks,

How durable is matthew's gimmick for dropping the ring into the nut? Is it something that will last for life (or at least a long time) or will it need to be repaired or a new one purchased after much use? Thanks in advance for any information you can share.

Zipper!

This should last for a very long time! If there is something that could be damaged, it could be easily replaced.

Really pleased to hear that Seb Walton won the highly prestigious The Magic Circle Young Magician of the Year last night using my Nutdropper. Well done Seb.

I have just ordered this cant wait for it, I have a question though, can the gimmick be used to load a small object into any small fruit as opposed to a walnut or any other types of objects?, sorry if its a stupid question I'm just curious about the versitallity of the gimmick

Still loving the nutdropper!
My only problem is sourcing the walnuts. They seem to be seasonal here in the UK and I cant get any online! I have obtained some but they are not fit for human consumption which measn that most of them are small or so unripe that there is no space for anything inside. I am desperate to do this more often before our next walnut season in the autumn (!) so if anyone knows of an illicit walnut supplier please let me know!

If anyone is interested ( though from lack of previous response maybe not!)AVAPRIME appear to stock walnuts in their shell in the UK and I have sent off for some. I will report back as to their suitability!

I recently bought this fantastic prop. Just wonder where can I buy the flexible/bending chips that Matthew used in his bar routine?

I've looked everywhere, and seems all Poker chips I can find are solid plastic.

The chips aren't actually flexible/bending, that is just an old coin trick.
The chips are the ones that Shawn Farquhar designed and had specially done for his MatrixExpress. When you buy it you get 4 Chips. Definitely worth it. Smile

The chips have nothing to do with Shawn Farquhar

They are just regular poker chips from a poker set.

The bend is just an optical illusion. Nothing special about the chips at all
