I want a nice Top Hat. I've found an antique one but it's a lot of money!
Do any of you guys wear hats? Does anyone know where to buy these things? I'm in the UK and I don't want to go to a proper, expensive hat place! Thanks for any thoughts.

I wear a top hat as well. I got mine at a place called Hot Topix. I don't know if you have one over there or not. It was not expensive.

Jones,
I don't use one but you are right about the cost. Have you seen the cost of a collapsable top hat lately!? Those things go for a couple of hundred bucks. You may consider visiting a costume shop (theatrical quality costumes for rent) and see if any are for sale. |

Hi Jones,
Welcome back! I think Randy had a good suggestion regarding visiting theatrical stores or perhaps you can find out when local theaters have their annual sales. Yup, they do this sometimes and you can pick up neat props or costumes. Check it out! You sure you don't want this type of hat? I think it's most becoming myself! ha ha! |

Wow!! This is just too weird!! About a gazillion years ago I visited relatives in Thorpe-Mandeville England--just outside of Oxford. My Aunt gave me an antique beaver skin Top Hat (Which fits a child), but I use it just the same to make some productions and such. Maybe there are some more Top Hats lying about somewhere in the UK. Have you asked your Aunt?

I wear a "Bowler" (sometimes). To be different and I have always liked them. It's black and it came from Hot Topix as well. Cost $30.
In December of '06 I was diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans. One in a million people worldwide are diagnosed with this type of cancer annually. Sarcomas account for 1% of all cancers. Knowledge is power!

Jones,
As you are an entertainer, why don't you get a student milliner to knock you up something smart as a boost to their fledgling CV. Maybe ring the London College of Fashion, or ring The Hat magazine 0207 247 1120. You could get something really spanky at cost! |
