We have a magic shop. One of the best in the country. Big Guy's magic shop. but I Just thought since I am on this site a lot that someone here would know.

One resource is Michael Ammar's series "Easy to Master Thread Miracles". Volume 1 contains the explanation for "Clearly Penetrated Mike Stand" using a "traditional" device.
It may be overkill to buy the whole series (it's not cheap), but it is a great resource for learning about a specific area of magic. Most of the 3 DVDs are involved in teaching the use of a gimmick that is not part of the Silk Thru Microphone Stand; still I found it thorough and helpful; I learned a lot. If you have access to Rice's Encyclopedia of Silk Magic, the section beginning on page 851 (Volume 2) discusses the effect (and variations of it). I hope this info helps! Larry S. |

I think the reason it was suggested to go to a magic shop was not out of meanness. You can learn the trick, but still need the gimmick to do it effectively.
