I am getting burned out. For the past two months and on until Feb I am booked pretty close to solid.
This week alone show Mon night, Weds night, 3 shows yesterday, 2 shows today and next week and the week after I have more during the week. When is it too much? Are people this hurting for something to make them feel better? |

Perhaps you're not increasing your fees sufficient to your worth.

I think what has changed with me is that the type of performance I do has changed to all bizarre and dark mentalism performance for adults... I do not do standard magic for adults unless they ask for it. The area seems to not only accept the darker presentations but would rather see them. I had 2 shows Friday, and both of them were darker. And out of those 2 shows I book 3 more private functions.
The show I had yesterday was so well received the hostess actually booked a psy party for her girls. There will be 15 girls no more. Each is to pay a set fee to enter. She just called me today and said that all the spots were filled and she wanted to know if I could extend the time and let more girls come in............. |

You seem to be suffering from something called, success.
The cure is, continue what you are doing, do even more...and better, and enjoy it.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

It certainly beats the alternative. I've certainly noticed an increase in business the past two years. Maybe there's been a shift in interests by the general public; it feels like there has been. Whatever the reason, I'm making hay while the sun's shining.

It seems to me with all the negatives floating about like the economy, the political turmoil and all that. People are looking for answers. What we do as entertainers is mystical in its very nature.
It seems more and more people are looking for some magic in their lives. But who knows. Maybe we are just really good at what we do and it's paying off. |
