Well, next month I am making a leap of faith and fun.

I am working on putting close up ideas to work on stage.

Ring 129 has wonderful stage and platform magicians/entertainers.

I hope to learn a lot in the process and the actual program.

Back in June, I was honored and blessed to take home this years close up prize.

Unfortuneately, my Okito box, would not work on stage.

Will update you, on what I learn in the next weeks to month ahead.

I am in the same situation as you. After winning two consecutive years for close-up at my local IBM ring's close-up magic contest, I have to wait a year before entering the close-up contest again so for this year's magic contest (which is on the 15th of this month) I am entering for stage.

I am doing multiplying balls with music which is a new experience for me but I must say that I am having a lot of fun practicing and working on the routine. This is of course a new refreshing experience for me and made me appreciate more on manipulation acts.

Cool news about your double win.

We had one guy win the close up MOY in KC, 6 or 7 times in a row.
Jason Dean and other folks in Ring 129 elevate our art.

Music adds a lot to both my platform and close up. I choose to play it myself on either harmonica or ukulele rather than use an IPOD or MP3.

One can bring in lots of possibilities with multiplying balls.
Since I don't have big,or even medium illusions, my act will also include manipulation, comedy, music and monologue.

I need to settle on a routine, as mine continues to be in transition. January 12 will be here in just a few weeks.

The event was held on the 12th of January.

Jay Temant won with his delightful competion act that has already been seen and gathered awards around the country. It was great to talk with him in the green room.

I put in far to little time with my efforts.

Pluses out of the process was trying out a vent act that does not use a puppet.
I talk with "Nigel", in my head as things go wrong in the act.

Got a chance to watch my performance. My wife gave me some excellent suggestions. Mostly to cut out some words and repeating an effect. Instead of producing multiple eyes, to produce just one and stick with the "Klink" imitation from Hogan's heroes, rather than cover my face with eyes. (the eyes are google eyes with flat backs)

My favorite illusion was one that no one ever knew(until now).

When I started the routine with playing old lange sine on the harmonica, it really wasn't a harmonica. I used a similar sized digital tape recorder. Later I played the same song but that time used a real harmonica.

When I was practicing and sharing the routine, it was mostly kid audiences, who loved the eyes all over the face.

I forget that things sometimes play differently for an older audience.
