Hi all
I was shopping in my Australian Geographic store today (the type of store that sells telescopes, magic tricks and children's chemistry sets) and was lucky to spot a "Spy Gear - Night Sight" for only $80AUD.
This is a hands-free night vision scope (fits on one eye only) and comes with a head mount.
All I need to do for dark seances is paint over the IR LED's, as they show up in the dark, then I will be able to see the specs in total darkness.
<Insert wicked laugh here>
Cheers
Geoffrey

I have used this kind of thing. You still will need a source of IR light in the room, but you can find small emitters that can be placed up on the ceiling and give you plenty of light to do what you need to do. Also know that if there is ANY light beyond an IR emitter, then the spectator's eyes will adjust to the light and start to see after about a minute or two.
