Wow all I see is a lot of criticism and not a lot of help!
Here are some helpful thoughts for you sir. The reason to roll the ball through is not quite motivated. Here are some things to help with that. Here are some plot "for instance" type things that would make it more motivated: Scenario: The woman is dressed as a bowling pin. You explain in pantomime that you're going to roll the ball at her head. She disagrees. You argue. You turn to face the audience and shrug. As you do so she pickpockets a wand out of your side pocket and waves it over her head. You turn around to argue with her again, but now she's fine with it. That's strange, she was arguing with you just a moment ago. You roll the bowling ball through. Scenario: You are talking to a woman at a bowling alley. You are both dressed in 1920's garb. She is leaning back on a bar at the bowling alley. You go to bowl, but she starts laughing at your poor form. (This is all in pantomime). She takes out a hat box and a hat, and puts the hat on. You go to bowl again and she laughs at your approach to bowl. You get angry at her, put down your bowling ball on the bar, take off her hat and put the hat box on her head as punishment. She crosses her arms in disgust. You turn around and face the audience, miming that you are angry with her and crossing your own arms. As you are facing the audience, behind you the ball slowly starts rolling down the bar, and it rolls through the box to the other side. You turn around to get the ball and when you look the ball isn't where it's supposed to be. You look and gawk, it's on the other side!. You take the hatbox off and show it to the crowd. Now the woman is upset and protesting. You tell her "Shhh" and put the hatbox back on her, and put the bowling ball back on the bar. You turn to the crowd and again apologize. As you do so the ball rolls to the other side again. Scenario: You are in a bowling alley with a woman who partying a little too hard. You're trying to bowl and she's stumbling around, clearly severely impaired. You have her sit down right next to a long rail which says BALL RETURN in neon. She sits down and starts to protest, and you hand her a box labeled NACHOS. At the edge of the BALL RETURN is a small ball elevator, which lifts the ball onto the rail. You put down your ball in the ball return elevator and walk away facing stage right, and we have a profile view of you practicing your bowling form. The woman gets bored and starts eating the Nachos. She tips the box towards her to eat more and more and leans back and OOPS! She falls backwards onto the BALL RETURN rail and the NACHOS box falls over her head. The audience watches as the woman struggles and as the ball reaches the top of the elevator. It gets to the top and drops the ball on the rail and it rolls through her head! You turn around. What happened? This is repeated, and then ends with her face on the bowling ball. I guess what I'm saying is that the bowling ball through head LENDS itself to a comedy vignette presentation, sort of an "accidental magic" thing. When you use a comedy presentation with this, I think it will really up the effect to be more entertaining. Right now it's just a woman with her head getting smashed by a bowling ball. Why? You need to motivate the action. That's just my two cents. I think it is a very original and fun and silly illusion. Up the fun and silliness and you will have a real winner here.

Hi every body . two years ago I came with an idea depending on the same principle of the head mover , the idea was I enterd the illusion withthe girls body in view and three baloons appear in place were the head shoul be I start poping the baloons one by one till the fact that there is no head register in the minds of the spectators , then I place a box for a moment and the head appears .. and there is my assistant .
and when I tried to post it for sale in the surplus magic exchnge I got a warning that this is a ripoff that I shouldnt be posting this ... |

Ok lets cut to the chase here, first and foremost if we are all honest YES this is exactly like Andres head mover illusion HOWEVER the question is two fold
one is there enough of a difference to make it a unique illusion or enough of a modification to make it different enough. as Steve pointed out would you perform this in the same show as some one doing the head mover better yet I ask if you are sharing the stage with Andre Kole and he is performing the head mover would you perform this? two Has taylor checked all the facts as to who owns what and if indeed this is ok to build all that being said I can say this. Taylor has indeed gone out of his way over the years to make sure that his effects are built upon integrity. I know he strives to improve other effects out there as well as create his own. as pointed out earlier I would find it hard to believe that he would build something that would infringe on another's creation. further more EDF would not jump on board if they thought it was off limits. so all that being said while I think it is too much like andres koles head mover I can see this as an adaption that could indeed be a funny comical piece of magic. I thought of this- what if you had a track that went in a circle and you could push the ball and have it run thru the head and continue around again but when it exits the box a head comes out. I know it was mentioned earlier but I thought of it too and agree that would be funny. maybe morbid. but I also thought that when the girl was release from the box maybe her head was in the shape of a bowling ball or something like that. any who my point was I cant see Taylor ripping off some one so lets focus on what we can do to improve the effect. you know that magicians helping magicians thing. good luck with it Taylor! sam

My opinion may not mean much but Who cares. It is a cool trick , effect, illusion, adaptation what ever done in a unique presentation.
Everyone just enjoy what you have seen and do not worry on who did what the kind of method ect.. Taylor is not a guy just starting out in the business he knows the ethics of being a performer no need to question him about it. Stupid things like what I have read will stop people from posting their newest what ever in fear that some guy they never heard of in 1895 did it one time but it is published in a book that you may own from 1920 |

Tristan is a very knowledgeable performer in the field of illusion and I will defend his opinion. He plays by the rules and so do I ... it's simply the right thing to do.
I'm an open book and Tristan's information is also here on the Café. We're not hiding behind screen names ... with little or no information. Check your facts and consider the source of some of these stupid rumors going around before you start pointing fingers at someone. The Café is a place to share knowledge and opinions, to better the art of magic. Let's keep it friendly ... I was just about ready to drop it completely. Steve |

Tristan's information is not out here on the Café. People thought he was part of Arko magic from Greece, but they were wrong. That is a different Tristan, he even said so.. Nobody knows who he is, and you have know idea if he actually plays by the rules. You are not hiding Mr. Chezaday, but he is. (just like I am) For all you know he could be the owner of Snap illusions. I highly doubt that he is......but you never know. He makes good points, but he also throws out blind accusations to others here before he even has all his facts straight.
As for me being anonymous.....as long as others keep themselves in the closet I will do so as well. A lot of folks have PM'd me asking me who I am, where I perform, who I work for, Etc. Those are all good questions, but I have said it before, as long as others remain unknown I will to. Besides, the guy I work with most knows a lot of people on here, and he doesn't want to be caught up in the drama I cause (as he puts it). So until everyone has to have their real name, their real picture, their website, and their promotional material available for all to see, I will continue to remain anonymous, and talk trash to the trash talkers. P.S. Great Job Taylor! As many have said more eloquently than I, you have no reason to justify yourself to the anonymous accusers here on the Café. |

That is the second time you have said that, and I find it even more disturbing that you felt the need to repeat it.......what is your fascination with me being a "dude?" Are you um...."confused" or "curious?" While I remain anonymous I think I make it quite clear what gender I am.......I am sorry if you feel like I was leading you on, but no need for you to get excited.

As I saw it first, I directly thougt: That's Koles headmover.
First I want to emphasize: I have big respect for Taylors work. But here I have to say - this one is a small change. I know that he is very reputable. That's good! I don't want to attack someone, but think this one is very close to the original and want to help doing the right thing. For the Audience Dismember it is appropriate to buy the original, pay the royalties and honor the inventor through that - and than make the change and pay the fee of Taylor in addition. Why should that one be different - as the changes to the original are (imho) even less than with the AD? The same handling would be appropriate here. |
