Finally found my chop cups and balls set, bought new in the late 1970's for (I think) around $45.
Chrome plated, I think over some kind of metal - you can see where it's chipped off. The don't really "ring", but have a more solid sound than plastic. Any ideas? Images linked below -- the draw-string bag came with the set. Larger images at this link: http://www.pbase.com/inigmntoya/cups_and_balls |

I second that. It looks like my Morrissey set.

Looks like the old Monti cups.

Thanks for the input. 2:1 says Morrissey. Other than being a servicable set, do these have any collector value?
Just curious -- don't think I could part with them. |

Morrissey cups are pretty common, and still being made. I think they are too tall between the rim and ridge to be Monti cups. If Bill Palmar sees them he can ell you for sure.

Thanks, and yes, I was hoping Bill might weigh in.

They look a bit like Uday cups.

I am certainly not an expert, but I have an aluminum combo set by Morrissey from about the same time (late 70s, early 80s) that look very similar. Mine have what look like the same green crochet balls and exactly the same red corduroy bag, but your cups look like they might have a bit more attic space. The shoulder bead on mine is dead center on the height of the cup; yours looks to have more space between the shoulder & saddle than the shoulder & rim, though that may just be the angle of the photos.

Those are Morrissey cups. You can tell by the mouth bead. It is folded instead of rolled.
