The remote being used with Show Cues, OneTrack, & PlayMyQ HD is the iJet remote. Carl and his partner Shawn have had the iJet people make a custom remote for their app but it's the same remote with the addition of one of the buttons being programmable. While iJet does say their remote works up to 150' away, I'm not sure how reliable that is. I've used an iJet remote for more than three years.
If the extremely unlikely event that someone is using an iJet remote in your audience (and why would they? Why would they be trying to control an iPod while watching a show?), the remotes and receivers have to be synchronized to each other. When you get a set, they are already synchronized but, if you get a second remote, it won't work with the receiver until it is synchronized. (I used two set and synchronized mine to work with either remote and either receiver.) As for knowing when the track is playing, both OneTrack and Show Cues do let you know they are in play mode. If visibility is a concern, use the app with an iPad or iPad Mini instead of with an iPhone or iPod Touch. Then, your display will be large enough to be seen at a distance. Even when I used my old Virtual Soundman unit with my illusion show, I always had it on stage with me so I could see the display. I had the display on the floor downstage right. (If I had my own PA system set up, it was under the speaker stand.) That keeps it out of the way but still plainly visible. Unless your eyes are a lot better than mine, the LED display of the VSM iCue2 couldn't be seen at the back of a theatre. Finally, both OneTrack and Show Cues have a cue sheet option so you can put your cues in the app for the sound man to know when to play the tracks. |

Michael pretty much said it all, great answer.
I will add that the custom made Show Cues remote will very soon have extended range not available on other remotes as well as a magnetic or ankle switch. The display on Show Cues is very easy to see with color indicators as to the play state. We also have an iPad version for even larger display. Carl |

CSimmons,
What Michael said. The Ijet remote has a security feature that prevents non synced remotes from cueing. Normally in a show your within 30 feet of the receiver so a cue beyond that is rare. Now in a large stage where the sound booth is 200 feet away. The stage always has input for microphones. That is where you use a direct box. But your still within 30 ft. A programmable button is not necessary for basic operation. You just need Play/Pause, next track, previous track, volume up and down. Now a magnetic switch sounds cool but it's only for PLAY. Plus you might trigger it by mistake if it's on your ankle or pocket. That is why most performers have the remote in their pocket..

CSimmons,
Actually almost all of our Show Cues users are asking for the magnetic switch. This was also very popular with the Wireless Wizardry ShowTech system. So many performers know how to use it. It does both play and fade without you having to touch any buttons with your hands. It is a highly desirable feature! Also I think most performers would rather have the extended wireless range rather than have to plug into a DI Box if possible. I have used a DI box myself and it works great but I think most prefer to go wireless. The programmable button is not necessary for basic operation. However it is another big feature adding more control to the user and will come in very handy with the magnetic switch. More programmable options are coming. You may not need all the features provided by Show Cues but it really is useful to have them available. Most performers prefer to be able to see the IPad screen so they could see the coming cues. Defeats the purpose of having an IPad. Might as well just supply the audio guys in the back of the room with a flash drive with your mp3s and a cue sheet so they could use their laptop.
In a pro stage setting, it's best practice to plugin your audio equipment, such as microphones, music players to a XLR snake-patch box. However if a magician carries binoculars or a very, very large magnifying glass and the theatre or stage setting is empty then they can see the IPad screen from over 150ft. It might look really weird carrying binoculars around your neck. In a real world setting, with a long distance cue you will get signal loss, interference from audience members bodies, environment issues, and other misc. But if you guys manage to create an Ijet that operates on different transmission signals and can auto scan for the best open signals then I wouldn't be addressing the issues I mentioned above. Finally realize that you keep on arguing in a thread about PlayMyQ which is $1.99 and does 90% of what your app does but meets the expectations of most users. If you noticed I decided to keep away from your ShowCues thread. I just didn't want any drama.

I up graded to an Iphone 5 from a 4s. My PlayMyQ app works great. However I tried the app with my ijet remote using an adaptor(8 pin to 30 pin) with a tail and I can not get the remote to work. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks Mark |

Is the adapter a genuine Apple one? If not, you might want to go that route. There are lots of third-party adapters that do not always work. Many of the third-party lightning cables will charge iPods/iPhones/iPads but won't transfer data.
If it is a genuine Apple adapter, I suggest contacting Buy iJet. They've been pretty good to work with when I had some questions about my iJet remote. |

Hi Guys,
I have PlayMyQ and PlayMyQHD. Neither app will allow me to save the play queue. Anyone else have this problem or have a solution? My next purchase is the iJet iNAV Boss V2 Lanyard Wireless Remote (Rain Proof) (LB). Thanks, Jack

Assuming your on Apple Firmware ios7, that update introduced a bug in some apps.
The workaround is having to create Playlists on iTunes till the developers release an update. Not sure when it's updating and I will email the developer.

I received an email response (very quickly I might add)from John-John Roslund regarding the save issue. He said a fix has been sent to Apple and an update should be out in a week or so.

Hello Everyone.
I am part of Deceptively Simple, Inc. We are a licensed Apple hardware developer and the creator or Cue Command. We have access to technical and proprietary documentation on many Apple products including the Lightning connectors. A couple of comments about some recent posts… 1) Apple’s Lightning connector is far more complicated than it appears. The connector itself does indeed have electronics (chip) inside. The device is there in an effort to prevent piracy and to closely control the devices that can connect to Apple iPod’s, iPhone’s, etc. Without going into a great deal of detail of how the device works, suffice to say Apple is working very hard to prevent people from manufacturing their connectors. In some cases, a Lightning connector will work until the next iOS upgrade. Based on some of the posts, I believe that is what people are experiencing. We strongly recommend our customers not support piracy and purchase their Lightning adapters directly from Apple. 2) Those of you frustrated with low-cost music player apps that commonly break after Apple updates may want to consider Cue Command (www.CueCommand.com). We offer the only product that plays music natively from the iDevice (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) and includes a long-range transmitter. We also have an available ankle switch. Best always, Team Deceptively Simple |

@DeceptivelySimple,
PlayMyQ HD has only broken once with the current major firmware, iso7, and not any of the ios6 updates. I WARNED people not to update to ios7 till the Apps were updated. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=11&13 Apple invalidated IDs for all previous iTunes tracks and created new ones, causing issues with ios7. Now your confusing the lighting connector with the lighting connector "adapter". People in this forum are buying lighting connector adapters to convert a 30 pin connector. They are using adapters so they can use the Ijet remote control which presently has a 30 pin receiver. Though, as I mentioned, IJet is presently engineering a lighting connector receiver and a longer range remote and a ankle switch. The Lighting Connector that you mentioned above, the authentication chip has been Hacked by a Chinese firm a few months back. Since its a hardware hack it should survive future ios firmware releases. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Apple-L......265.html

Gothike,
First, I’m skeptical that this Chinese firm “permanently” hacked their way around the Apple product. I think it’s more likely that it will work only until the next major upgrade. Apple works very hard to prevent this and they usually succeed. Time will tell. Second, I’m not confusing the Lightning connector with the adapter. Both products use the patented and proprietary Lightning plug from Apple. These plugs contain a small chip and Apple controls the distribution. If someone is selling the adapter for a few dollars, it is most likely a counterfeit unit and if it works, it will most likely fail after future upgrades. Regardless of the Chinese companies’ ability to successfully hack the Apple code, what we’re discussing here is in fact piracy. It’s morally wrong and certainly illegal. I highly doubt you’d appreciate it if someone took the time to reverse-engineer your products and then marketed them as a low-cost alternative to something you’re selling. Just because other people are doing it, doesn’t make it right. When any of us knowingly purchase counterfeit products, we’re essentially supporting criminals. Currently, Apple is selling two versions of the 30-pin to Lightning adapter. http://store.apple.com/us/ipod/ipod-accessories/cables-docks#!. One is just the adapter and the other has a five-inch “pigtail” that works a little better with cases. Both products have been thoroughly tested with Cue Command and they work perfectly. As a result, we support all the new iPod’s, iPhone’s, iPad’s and Mini’s through the Apple-provided connector. There are no issues with iOS 7 and we currently offer the magnetic ankle switch. Another PlayMyQ HD question. I created, named and saved 2 queues. How do I pull up a specific queue? All I see is add songs then a list comes up and saved queues is on it, but that function doesn't pull up a specific queue.
Thanks
