Trailers for this new gimmicked deck can be seen at:
http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S14968 http://www.system6magic.com/collections/......uldoon-1 I have never met, Michael and I am not affiliated with this effect in any way. I do love a good Triumph routine and Yes, this is gimmicked and Yes, there are un-gimmicked ways to do this very same effect but none are as instant or visual as this one looks (say other than for some applications of Lee Asher's Pulp Friction move). I watched the trailer and read a small discussion on another thread in "Latest & Greatest" section for Modern Triumph. Like I mentioned, I love triumph routines and for some reason I felt like I had to buy this (and I don't buy too much magic these days...). I received it from Penguin (as that was who had it to purchase at the time) and in almost a day I received my purchase and since, I have had ample time to watch the dvd, play with the cards and give an honest review. First and foremost let me stress, what you see in the demo IS exactly what you get with the trick. It is that straight forward, no manipulated demo for this one. You have a card selected, it is returned to the deck. Half of the deck is turned face up, clearly and cleanly mixed into face down cards, squared and instantly the deck/cards are fixed except for 1 card face down amongst all the faces. You turn the whole pack over, showing the entire other side of all backs and all the cards are the same orientation/fixed except for the face of the selection. That's it. I cannot stress that it is really that clean. The DVD is very cut and dry; here is the deck, here is how you use it, do it and here are some tips. The production value is very good with just some minor sound variances. Also, and this is me nitpicking really, I felt like I was missing something at first like I had skipped a chapter or accidentally fast-forwarded through something. I feel the order or transitioning or something minimal is slightly off. This does NOT affect the teaching or instruction, all of that was clear, concise and well taught. I also appreciate the crediting and history/development of the deck (although this might have been better earlier on in the DVD as it seems lost at the very end). The deck. Very well constructed and easy to use. This deck can be made from stuff that you may or probably have laying around your magic room/drawer/stuff/etc. This makes it very customizable if you wanted to vary away from regular red or blue bicycles. Michael has done a great job of making this almost foolproof evert time. The use of the deck enables you to mix the cards (by you OR the spectator) and then they are fixed, instantly. No sequences to show backs to front, back to back, faces to faces, etc... You see them get mixed and then you instantly see them fixed. It is hard to tell how wear and tear will effect the gimmicked deck but it should be a relatively easy fix/repair based on my extensive experience with "similar" (I use the term VERY loosely) decks on the market. I also incorporated one of the tips (short card) suggested by Michael on the DVD and it does make the overall ease of the deck even easier. CONS: there really are only 1.5 cons for this gimmicked deck: for me, the big one is the reset. The reset is not difficult but it is not quick/efficient either. You could maybe (a big maybe) reset the deck on your way from one end of the room to the other but I see you having to just put the deck away after the effect and dealing with it later that night. Unfortunately, I have played with the deck enough to see if I can come up with a "working way" or a better, more efficient way to reset the deck (as is) that was not discussed on the DVD and what you see is what you get. So I will be open to suggestions if anyone comes up with any. The "half a con" is that b/c it is a gimmicked deck, you are limited to what can be done with it. You could pull off some basic card routines with the deck like ACR, Twisting the Aces, etc... but you do have to modify your handling slightly to compensate. On a scale of 1 -10, I give this an overall 9. As long as you know what to expect with the reset, you'll be fine and not disappointed. This is a gimmicked deck. The demo is very clean and shows you exactly how the trick looks. Cheers, Justin
