I love to see what you guys are twisting.

Anyone want to post superheros they make. That's what I'm currently trying to master.

Would love to see some of your creations.

I'm certainly not on the level of many of you expert twisters but here's my humble entry...

Sad to say that I haven't really branched out in this area...I just stick to the Ken Stillman's designs for these. They're fairly simple to make and show very well. These are just the ones I have photographed but the design in quite modular in the sense where you can create ALL of the hero's from this design.

I don't like doing this, but if I'm in a big hurry, I may just do a Hitchhiker body with a print balloon (Spiderman/Batman/etc.) for the head. Works in a bind...

Okay, I want to see photos from Mark the Balloon Guy so here's my attempt at a quick tutorial.

First point to remember TheMagicCafe displays photos but does not store them. This is a little confusing. The software simply "points" to a location where the photos actually "live" off of this site on the web. If Steve Brooks allowed all the pictures to be uploaded to the site, the database would get slow and would be expensive for him to host.

Every picture on the web has an address called a URL. You can usually see it if you look at "properties" (Right-click on PC; one of you Mac guys will have to help us out on the Mac way to do it).

The URL will be something like:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2085/2177060015_258bcfaff9_m.jpg

It will start with http:// and end with .jpg, .png, or .gif (usually).

Note: The photo you want to display in your post will have to be online somewhere so it can be accessed. It won't work if it is only on your own computer but not uploaded to a website somewhere.

Flickr, Instagram, and iCloud are examples of places people upload photos. These are third party web site that host images.

Explaining how to find the URL for each third party host is a little beyond the scope of what I'm trying to do here.

Second you have to tell TheMagicCafe how to point to the right picture. The Café uses the tag "img" which is short for "image" to know where your picture URL (web address) starts and where it ends.

The URL must be enclosed in [img] and [/img] (note the forward slash for the second [/img] tag).

To add a graphic within your message, just encase the full URL of the graphic image as shown in the following example.

[img]http://yourdomain.com/images/picture.jpg[/img]

In the example above, TheMagicCafe automatically makes the graphic visible in your message. Note: the "http://" part of the URL is REQUIRED for the [img]code.

Quick and dirty summary:

  • Find the URL of the picture you want
  • Enclose the URL in [img] and [/img] tags

I hope this helps. Send me a private message is you have specific questions.

Here is a Flash costume. This one was with Brian Getz. (Weaving is great!)

Here is something a bit quicker, a Captain America. Actually got the idea from Youtube and supersized it with 360s and 660s.

Actually, believe it or not, haven't tried the Stillman's yet. I have the DVD, but I just haven't actually done them yet.

Wow! The "Strong Man" is great and I love the "flash costume"

How long did the flash costume take?

Flash costume took a little over an hour to put together. Unfortunately we didn't get pics with the balloon mask on which really brought everything together. It was kind of a last minute idea that turned out well!

Here's a Hulk that I have been working on. This photo isn't min, it's Ken Stillman's from his website. I haven't had the chance to create the entire design yet, but it is a great piece and I'm excited about creating the entire sculpture.

Majake, love the hat. It's good to have quick options for linework and that looks great!

Chris, I've seen that on balloon click for a while, but I haven't tried it yet. Thinking about it as it looks great!

I made these for one of the servers at work yesterday...again, nothing to special but I do love that it's a large sculpture and comes together rather quickly. If you don't do the Ken Stillman Hero's, then you're missing out! Smile

Hey Mark I had the same problem for a long time. I just went to photobucket and uploaded my pics on there, then pasted the link directly in the comments box.

That is cool. Tell us about the PVC stand you have it on. Do you take the PVC it's mounted on after the party or is that part of the fee you charge and they keep the stand?
