I got an email today about my web address expiring I know I am good until 2016.
I looked up the mailing address and I got this link from a anti scam website telling me all about the fraud.
Check it out

Yes, I have about twenty five domains and have been getting these several times a week. While it could be considered a scam it is becoming a common practice to try to get domain owners to renew with another company (the "scam" company). They usually want a longer commitment for a discounted price. Some of the recent ones I've received were for 10, 25 an d"Lifetime" domain ownership.

They're are getting the domain owner's info though public registration resources and targeting them well before renewal comes due, under the guise of "renew now and get this better offer/price). The problem is they designed thier emails to look like correspondance from your own domain company.

They don't want to renew your domain name! All that is an offer to put your domain name into a search engine, nothing more, nothing less... something you can do for free!

Not the ones I keep getting as well... they DO, in fact want me to 'register' (under false pretences of an expired domain = SCAM) with THEM... and at $75.00 a year for EACH Domain.

Hope That Serves...

Yep, I agree. They are trying to take away your domain registration from the existing company to theirs at heft prices.
