I used to carry tools, but after around 40 years of never needing them, I stopped.

Correct. I have never done an escape in my life... on stage. Who said anything about hiding stuff for stage?

My sentiments exactly. I could carry numchucks too, but how often are you attacked by a team of ninjas?

I would carry tools if I planned on telling random people to handcuff me. (which I might do).

Otherwise, why not carry a lightning rod in case you are struck by lightning, or anti snake venom in case someone throws a rattler on you?

Not very practical.

Weasel: I always thought that if you really wanted to learn how to stop terrorists, you should hire a con man or a magician, and ESPECIALLY an escape artist. We know all sorts of ways to hide, conceal or misdirect people from small objects. Doing that sort of thing is our trade. Why didn't anyone ever ask us? You can even fool x-ray scanners and metal detectors if you put enough thought into it.

Great share and perfect timing for the play on words jokes.
But, I wonder why people didn't try to cover up the stuff with fake fur, so it wouldn't be so noticeable.

Probably why one of the group on the old mission impossible TV show was a magician.

I used to hide some things, but somehow they either got lost, or didn't work the ways they were intended. It's easier to just do things straight up.

I prefer keys for their comic value, but then, I tend to look at things from a more-than-slightly skewed angle.

The best thing to hide, then lose, then forget about it, then find later: money.

This is why you should never conceal handcuff keys on you: What if the cop that stops you is a MAGICIAN!
