Hi all,
I'm working on a routine which will open with a version of Jumping Bean Aces. For those that don't know it, it is a very face ace assembly. I would like to follow this effect with another assembly, but a slower one (to allow the audience to follow them better). I am specifically looking for an effect like this that preferably uses the four kings and aces. I'm considering Modern Jazz Aces but I don't think that four kings work as well as four black eights and nines. Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Cheers, Trent |

I don't know any eight-card assemblies, but if you want a transposition to do after, Harapan Ong teaches a great one on his Cullology download where the aces are placed face up in the deck in different places, then the four kings turn updside down one by one and are revealed to have swapped places with aces. The deck in spread to reveal the four kings face up in it.

But, if you have or can can borrow a copy of the book Kort: The Magic of Milt Kort, you will find a beautiful multi-phase transposition that uses Aces and Kings. It's a great routine. It is in the first chapter of the book. I will seek out the exact name but hopefully someone will jump in as well with the exact citation. 3/4 of my books are still packed in boxes. This book is a great buy because it's a testament to the work of a great magician. It's written by Stephen Minch and published by Hermetic Press. Sorry I coukld not answer your question completely but, this effect fits your criteria so I at least wanted to provide a "lead" for you. When I locate the book, I will provide the citation here for you. Namaste, Vlad PS: I just reread your post and realized that you are asking for another assembly. The Kort effect is not an assembly - still I think it might be a nice alternative. You could look at Harry Lorayne's Fantastic Assembly however. Maybe you could PM Mr. Lorayne and ask him if he feels his effect would work with the cards you are wanting to use. I haven't done the routine since I moved here so I can't remember. FYI you will find it on his Best Ever DVD series. |

Darwin Ortiz' "Hitchcock Aces" would fit your criterion.
Michael Skinner's version of "Conus Aces" would also work, if you used Kings rather than Queens. It's a very pleasing trick. |

I don't know about an assembly using aces and kings, but I use Mercury Aces at the end of my ace routine to turn the aces into kings. only $12 and garunteed to fry your spectators. especially because the aces are found upside down in the deck, I like to just have the deck on the table, 4/5 times somebody will reach for it without me telling them to and they'll find the aces upside down in the deck, makes for a really nice end.

I have a favorite effect using the four aces and four queens (kings could be used) called "Intrusive Black Threes". It uses basic card sleights. It's in Chapter 9 of Kingdom of the Red.

Not an assembly, but Martin Nash's Kings Incognito is great and uses the kings and aces

Jack Carpenter has a great routine, I think it's called Pocket Interchange. 8 cards, signed and it is like reset, but 4 cards are placed in your pocket. Beautiful, and not too difficult either.

It's not an assembly, but it is a trick that uses exactly the cards you want to use. And it's quite fun to do, too: Helder Guimaraes' "Invisible Thread" from (I think) his DVD "Small Miracles". There are some performances of it on YouTube, like for example this one.
