I know, he's not an old timer but he seems to have disappeared from the magic scene in Scotland. I am trying to get more information about him for the Magic Nook Biographies of Magic Inventors section. Here's what I have so far:
McRae, Campbell (?) Stage name of James Lister Cook. Described as "Scotland's Finest Magician", he performed a manipulative act in full highland regalia. He is believed to be the first magician to turn this magnificent costume into a magic prop. Although his manipulative act (using doves, silks, coins, billiard balls and cards) was designed for cabaret, he also played the few theaters that remained in the 1960s. He was well known for his bare-hand vanish of a live dove. He was also a career engineer , inventor, and holder of fifteen patents. For a time, he operated what he called "probably the smallest magic store in the world" from his home in Scotland. He only stocked and supplied his own creations: Campbell's Cube-Off and The ISO Box (Inside-Out Box). Anyone?
