Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you know that we've decided to release our RemoteCue system for FREE!
For those of you who don't know what this is, it's a remote control cueing system for your music. It works with ANY PowerPoint remote! This software does everything the expensive systems do, including PERFECT auto-fades! I wrote it for my own personal use after being dissatisfied with the other systems on the market that I'd tried. DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.remotecue.com/download/ Once you install just create a playlist in iTunes, open RemoteCue, and configure your options! You'll need to map the functions of your remote the first time you use it. Instructions on how to do that are in the online user guide Please note that RemoteCue is Mac only. There are no Windows / iOS / Android versions planned. We do have a custom remote available that works perfectly with the system, but it's not required to use the software. This is a FULL VERSION. It doesn't have limited functionality and won't expire. |

Hi Matt,
Have you ever been working on a version of your program in combination with DMX or timecode? I would like to advance to the next song by remote, but also also my timecode jumping to the next song. I could do this by striping a timecode signal on one channel and have the audio on the other but than I have no stereo anymore. To me that is not an option So far I am working on WIndows for my show (kind of a necessary evil) so if you have thoughts on this for Apple, I am very very interested Magical Greetz from Holland, Peter van Rhein |

Matt,
I will test this out on Sunday. I got a hackintosh so it may or may not work. But I will report if I get it to work. Any plans for updates. I think this is the only mac software that I have seen. I personally would like to see an update to display at lease 3 songs in the screen.

Hey! Thanks so much for the interest. I've been getting a lot of responses via PM. I'll address everything that's come up so far point by point.
1.) There seems to be a misconception that I'm using PowerPoint to accomplish this. Let me be clear... THIS SOFTWARE DOES NOT UTILIZE OR CONNECT TO POWERPOINT IN ANY WAY!!!. This is all custom code that interfaces with iTunes to handle media playback. The confusion is coming from the fact that I made it compatible with PowerPoint remotes. My software intercepts the remote's signal and uses it. PowerPoint itself is never used. 2.) Richard - How old is your Mac? Hypothetically RemoteCue should run on 10.6 Snow Leopard. I haven't tested it though and therefore make no guarantees. Feel free to give it a shot. The only platforms I tested it on were 10.7 Lion and 10.8 Mountain Lion. It definitely will NOT work on 10.5, Leopard. 3.) gothike - That's an interesting idea! I'd love to hear what others think. It's totally possible, but of course a fair amount of work to implement. If enough people are interested I'll consider making an update to add this feature. Let me know how it works on your hackintosh. My inner geek needs to know! As far as updates go, I'll consider them on a case by case basis. If enough folks are interested in a particular new feature I'll look into adding it. I'm using this for my own shows, so there may also be updates if needed to keep the app compatible with OSX. Apple has a nasty habit of changing stuff! 4.) Peter - I'm not sure what you're looking for. Do you want to control a light show with the remote as well? I assume that's why you're asking about DMX. It would help if I understood your exact application. DMX is something I thought about. It's an interesting beast that's made immensely complex by the variety of different lighting fixtures out there. I've almost taken the plunge and purchased ShowXpress on a couple occasions, but I too would like to control a DMX show from a remote. There are a few open source DMX apps out there that I might be able to link into. This would likely be a massive undertaking, bigger than the creation of RemoteCue itself. I can't say I have plans to work on this in the immediate future, but if the idea sparks enough interest I'll kick it around. Feel free to PM me any time with questions. I hope RemoteCue serves you guys as well as it has me! |

Matt,
Your software does not like a hackintosh running 10.6.3. I tried.

Is there a way around it? Michael |

Michael,
You might try downgrading ITunes. Everyone else, a Hackintosh is when you change your PC (windows) to be able to boot to Windows and the Apple OS. It's cute, works with many programs but not all.

Michael -
Yes! I remember putting that in there now... I did it so I wouldn't have a bunch of 10.6 users complaining on the forums if it didn't work! lol... Let me look into my code and see if I can remove that limitation. I've got several shows lined up for the next week. Please be patient! Downgrading iTunes won't fix anything. If anything you want to be moving forward, not backward. gothike - If your Hackintosh is running 10.6, it's the same problem. So sorry about that! I didn't realize so many of you were still stuck back at Snow Leopard. :-( |

Alright 10.6 guys... Try downloading again using the link at the top of the thread. I removed the blocks. Remember, I'm making no guarantees that it will work for you!
(gothike - You might want to give it another go on your Hackintosh). Also, I've got a huge run of gigs over the next few days. If you run into further issues, please give me a chance to look it over before you drag me over the hot coals! lol! |

I gave it a shot with the replacement version and it wouldn't launch. This time I get a system dialogue box that says it needs at least 10.7 to run. When you get some time, maybe you can look into it. I'll be patient!

Michael, can you PM me your email? It's becoming apparent to me that making this work with 10.6 is going to benefit some people.
There's a few things that might be causing the problem, but I don't want to make those changes public for fear of breaking other things. Perhaps I could send them directly to you to try? I wish I had a 10.6 system to test this on! |

Ok everyone... I have some good news for everyone running Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard.
RemoteCue should now work for you! I've uploaded the latest version, so just use the download link in my original post. If this helps you, please send a major THANK YOU over to Michael Messing. He agreed to be my guinea pig and I wouldn't have gotten this working without him! (gothike - give this latest version a go on your hackintosh). I'm still leaving the "official" system requirements at 10.7 Lion since I can't test anything older firsthand, however Snow Leopard users should now be able run the app. |

Thanks, Matthew. I was excited to find that everything worked the way it was supposed to under Snow Leopard. It's amazingly simple, too!
Thank you for sharing this with us! Michael |

No, this isn't an app for iOS. It's an application for the Mac operating system on their computers (MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro, etc.)
