Thanks Luca for your words.
In this new project I share several techniques, tips, verbal finesses and ideas that the reader can add to his mind and toolkit and create some great moments. The add-on that I use to the "dry m****r" serves me very well and it´s a great way to cancelate in an indirect way the method used. How to make your Haunted Keys look older without chemicals or tools? This and more on "Ideas Vol 2". Best Click here to view attached image.

Post on here an insightful recent learning and/or performance tip. Recently I have learned that... D*u**e-writing is much more invisible than I imagined it would be. If the routining is right there should be ample cover and spectators really aren't looking for it. So my tip is (and this may be stating the obvious): Never write off a method you have only read about. Practice and perform it first, then make an educated decision about whether it works for you.

At particullarly dramatic moments during an effect just before the climax when the tention is highest I pause and take a sip of my drink to prolong and heighten the tension before the final revelation.

I have learned that it is important to set the context for your content. In other words, you have to frame what you are going to do in order to get the response that you want to do. It is a bit like laying a foundation for a house. Depending on how you frame the trick can be the difference between magic versus mental magic vs. mentalism vs. psychic entertainment.

Pablo was kind enough to give me a copy of this to review. I do not know Pablo personally nor had I previously purchased any of his products so I didn’t know quite what to expect. If you are looking for a simple effect, explanation, effect, explanation type book then this is certainly not for. Rather this book is for the experienced performer who wishes to add a series of subtleties and nuances to already existing routines. This is not to say that this book is only for the performer with several unique and strong routines already existing in his/her repertoire. When I was reading this book several ideas for effects sparked off in my mind. So what kind of subtleties does this book cover? Well without giving too much away I can say that this book covers subtleties for everything from drawing duplications, readings, peeks, metal bending, blindfold routines, psychological forces, performance tips and a lot more besides. Some of the stuff in here is very simple (yet effective) and other stuff here is darn right devious! Also, it doesn’t matter what style you have. Reading this book I realised that Pablo and I have very different styles yet I still found stuff that I enjoyed and would work on and apply in my performances.
To conclude I enjoyed this book a lot and would highly recommend it to others. Well done Pablo! Best, John. |

Thanks John and CarlZen for your words.
That is the soul of Ideas Vol 2 , simple ideas that can enhance anyone´s performance. Several gems that I found thru time of performing and testing in real situations with real participants, not just dreams that I came up while I was writing. I feel that in my publications the most important things arent the methods perse, rather this little finesses and approaches that can creates real wonders, in the correct hands and in the correct state of mind. Pablo kindly sent me a copy of this PDF for review.
As mentioned above, this is not your usual "Effect, Method, Effect, Method" type of book. Rather it is a scrapbook, a notebook, a collection of disconnected ideas. Some are "finesses" or "flourishes", verbal techniques and performance touches that will make an effect more believable. Other entries are tools, such as methods for marking billets or gaining a peek. Further sections cover more general "background" areas such as how to build your reputation off-stage, how to pace performances or things to remember before a show. The book seems fairly randomly constructed. It leaps from from one disparate idea to another with plenty of enthusiasm but little explanation. One page reminds the reader to take band-aids to a gig while the next describes a method of suggesting a participant can feel energy coursing through their body. This can be a little disconcerting. Also, some ideas are little more than teasing snippets, the germ of an idea that with a bit more development could become much more (Energetic Blessing, for example). In a way, these factors are quite refreshing - putting an onus on the reader to take the ideas and run with them - but I suspect some would find this approach less satisfactory. Some ideas might seem familiar to readers. The "Casual Peek" reminded me of a bold manoeuvre from an Andy Nyman routine and much of the section on creating false memories would probably seem familiar to owners of "Wonder Words". However, there are many practical, original and workable ideas here. Some excellent verbal touches are shared, as are useful tools such as a very handy marking system for cards. I also learned a new way to perform the haunted key which directly and physically involves a participant, read some good thoughts on equivoque and discovered a very interesting approach to using tarot cards (probably my favourite idea from the whole book). So, this is definitely not your average collection of mentalism effects and certainly not for everyone, but I suspect almost every reader could find at least one or two ideas, maybe many more, that would speak to them and inspire them.

Thanks for your words MatCult, great and honest feedback, as I expect.
Surely, several of the thoughts on this project are dead easy like the "band-aid" tip (keep band-aids on your case, they can save you some REALLY bad moments) and other ones are more complex in nature, all of them aimed to help with my experience other experiences as performers in creating some extraordinary moments to others. Glad that you enjoy the E.T. Haunted Key and TA(t)ROT . Best

It took me quite a few WEEKS to read this book!
It is a LONG BOOK, with a LOT of routines, LOT of ideas, LOT of thoughts, and LOT of everything. The book include from single phrases that Pablo uses as subtleties that can improve a presentation or the perception of an effect, until full detailed routines. I can imagine all the work and time that must have taken to Pablo to come up with all these ideas, all the thinking behind each one of the tips given in this book, all that without counting all the work that must have been to put all this available in written format for all of you. I am sure that any performer would find some value within all the pages, ideas and tips offered in this book. Nefesch |

Several of those ideas born just intuitively during performance (the twisting cutlery idea for example) and other ones were planned approaches. Best
