Here in Washington State sometime in the 70's, many meat shops were selling Horse meat. It was sort of a fad but now Horse meat can't be found anywhere. At least it is not advertised everywhere like it was in the 70's.

I love kangaroo ...... But I could never eat a whole one.
Make me a crocodile sandwich and make it snappy! There Is a chap I the uk so where that is a vegetarian but eats road kill....... Well he's not a vegetarian he chooses to eat no meat that has been revered and killed for food. But he will eat road kill as long as its not too old and old. He did a TV program where he fed a pub full of people on road kill including badger, fox and squirrel? People seemed to like it. |

What did you google to get to that image? Neither horse meat or beef burger with a hint of Mr Ed brought up the same image in google when I did the search.
So was this guy a homosexual that was also a cannibal, or did he eat homosexuals? Reminds me of the cannibalising eating a clown joke ...... One turns to the other and says "does this taste funny to you?" |

All done with this topic?
OK, how about goat? I used to buy it all the time in Florida. Can't get it up here in Maine. I get shocked looks when I ask for it. I see rabbit in Hannaford's now! Goat meat is similar, but milder than lamb. Here in Maine, I've had deer, moose, and bear. Bear was awful! Tasted like a wet dog smells. The Vietnamese like bear paw. Never had it. Moose, was WONDERFUL! Never had opossum. I'd try it, though. Thoughts anyone? Doug |

Tigers are carnivores, so their meat wouldn't taste good." That might explain why the bear was awful: it might have eaten, say, a lot of fish. Deer and moose are herbivores, so that would likely explain why they taste good. |

Except that people do eat tigers.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnew......ten.html People around the world eat a lot of carnivores (e.g., dog, cat, crocodile, snake, shark, etc.). Some carnivores taste good and, I guess, some taste bad. People have different tastes. Someone above mentioned how tasty crocodile is, but I've never liked it when I tried it. I've tried snake and IIRC the taste was okay ... but the texture wasn't so great. But I know others do like it. What I've read is that modern societies eat mostly herbivores as they are far more efficient to raise in large numbers for consumption. Also that the number of herbivore species dramatically outnumber(ed) carnivorous ones, and tended to have larger populations. So we selected the foods that were abundant and easy to manage. But how about the other angle? Can anyone think of a herbivore that we do not eat, one that tastes bad?
