Hi Edshern, thanks for the great post Smile

I will reply later with my favourites but I was realy surprised Ninja Experiment is in your list!

I have performed this a few times for people and they always saw the m***** Smile It's a nice illusion don't get me wrong, but I can't fool anyone with it! And yes, I used a flat, black surface to perform it on, which is important of course.

TENYO:
_ Twister
_ Clear Surprise

TENYO-Like:
_ It's done with mirrors from MAK Magic (one of my favourites of all time).

_ Thought Transmiter (John Cornelius)
_ Lubor Fiedler - Royal Fantasy
_ Stop light cards.
......OK not so Tenyo-like but this 5 tricks fits in any pocket an I keep with me all the time.

yeah....President's Cabinet is a great micro zig zag illusion.....I only wish that the apparatus could be shorter so it can be more easily transported in a bag or or pocket without the risk of damage it.

Does people really get fooled with Alan Warners's Pentra?......I have been tempted a lot of times to buy it (is a beautiful item!).....but the method seems so obvious that this stop me.....

I believe that a correct handling (including some visual "convincers") will fool most of the audiences... and everything is fully examinable! Definetly one of my preferred props to handle!

Favorites to perform:

1. Vault Vision
2. Invisible Zone
3. Crystal Cleaver
4. Mini-Zag
5. Mirage

I chose these five tricks for this list because they FOOL people badly. They are good magic tricks--effective illusions that produce mystery and surprise in the lay viewers. I could have listed many others, but these are the first five that came to mind. Interesting to note how many of us have named Lubor's "Invisible Zone"!

Hi Edshern basically I have a good averaged size collection my fave tricks are from the 80s and 90s, I loved it when Tenyo used to make the mini props eg Alpha tunnel, mirage, wonder window to name a few , iam not as keen on the newer style of tricks like memo pad or clear surprise etc. its probably just me but I do prefer the more toy like proppy tricks. "One man's treasure is another mans trash"
John, few things,

I was gonna sell my Viking Outdone because I never understood it.
Guess I need to take a second look.
Thanks John

also interesting,, looked up Haunted Hand & found this on Penguins site---- "This trick is by far the worst item I have ever purchased from Penguin. still can't get it to work. The gimmick is painful. THe video makes it look very easy to do. Maybe I am just missing something." http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S10715

Could you post a link to the Educated Pencil. Thanks.

Ed you are so right. I have been using the old method used in Haunted Hand for years so it comes easy to me. I love the look of the hand and it gets great reactions for little effort. It is a nice piece of animation that I can do under any circumstances... The fact so few magicians like the method is actually a bit of a bonus (very few people do it) I have read that one of Charlie Miller's (magic legend) favorite effects was similar to this but using a pencil. Gen Grant used to make a version with a Bic Pen which is good, but I have received the best reactions with the hand.... Best $12 I have ever spent. The most well known version is the Okito Doll but for me the hand is the best.

If I can help with Drop Out, let me know.

Sorry Ed forgot to mention the pencil. This is an old effect that is no longer made. Pops up on the magic auction sites once in awhile. The link below gives a nice overview of the effect from John Mendoza...
