OK, I don't post here a lot, but I ran across something I really have to let you folks know about.

I'll start by saying that I have mouth inflated balloons for the better part of 20 years. I've never really used pumps. I have a hand pump, don't really use it. I have a Filburt pump, don't really use it. In fact for years I had a standard line in my show, "Pumps are for chumps!"

Well, I'm now a chump! I was forced to use a pump at a recent cruise ship gig. They insisted I use a pump by not allowing my to mouth inflate. The reason was that the ship does everything they can to prevent the spread of the norovirus. Well, I went along with the program. I was not thrilled about it. So I bought a balloon pump off of the big auction site from a guy who runs a site called http://www.funtasticksuplies.com (I'm not affiliated with this guy in any way. Heck, I don't even know who he is) Frankly, I bought it from him because it was cheap. It was the cheapest pump of its kind I had found. Honestly I kind of figured if the thing tore up after the cruise gig I wouldn't care because of the price.

Well, the thing works like a champ. On the ship I was working two 2 hour shifts of line work a day. I tend to make mostly 3-5 balloon sculptures when working this way. The pump held up great. The pump never got hot. Never quit on me. Like the energizer bunny, it just kept going and going. When I got home I also used the pump at a water park gig for new years eve. Four hours of constant work. Literally well over a hundred sculptures. Still not a single problem. none.

I have to admit that now I am a convert. Using the pump really did make things easier. It was nice to give my diaphragm and cheeks a break. I didn't mind doing a few extra special sculptures with more balloons. I noticed that I did feel better physically after a shift. So I'm sticking with it. I would also recommend it to anyone else thinking of making the switch.

One thing I wasn't crazy about is the noise. Yep, it is a lot louder than mouth inflating. I was worried about the noise being distracting or just a general PITA. Well, outside nobody cares. I don't even notice it. Inside in a decent sized room again not a problem. These are the two circumstances where I work the most so it turned out to be a non issue. Still I wish someone could make one that makes a little less noise.

So if you are considering an electric pump, I would whole heartedly recommend checking this one out. Ordering from the site was easy. I got the pump within a couple of weeks of ordering which is no easy feat because he makes them when you order the pump. Oh, and another feature that is kind of nice is that you get to pick what color hose you'd like. I picked blue because it matched my costume. So far, so good.

I'm really glad I made the switch.

Just my two cents...

The noise of electric pumps annoys me too. I have found the Majiloon to be the quietest electric pump. I use it all the time. It is more expensive than some of the others, but it is worth it.
