Hello,
I want to pick up a Kirkendall reel. I see a few out there for sale. Some are listed as new in the packaging. I understand that there were some put together from parts left when George died. Is there a way to tell if I'm looking at an original? Did the later originals come with a DVD?

Thanks,
Tom

No their is no way to tell, as the parts were made for the original reels.

No, there wasn't any instructions with my reel, but there are instuctions on the Internet web site. So I guess at one point there was some instructions provided.

Kirkendall reels are Hallmarked on the stop pad.

You can read this topic about the person making the current models.

Here is a sight in George's honor. You will find the instructions as well by scrolling down the page.

Thanks Bill. The one I'm looking at is hall armed but t supposedly has an instructional DVD that came with it. I'm not sure whether George ever put out a DVD with his reels.

I can say positively for a fact that George did not produce a DVD for anything we built. Yes, I assembled reels for George among other items. That includes "The Box".

I believe George died long before DVDs and even video tape.

The only good video on the handling of reels was produced by Paul Diamond. L&L Publishing has the rights and has never converted the tapes to DVD. That may be what the person is offering, you would have to ask them though.
