Hi

I started to get hooked on Tenyo last year and since then I have slowly been increasing my collection via shops on the Internet.

Thanks to Stereo's incredible website I have seen some of the incredible older releases and h ave started to try and track them down.

Is eb** really the only way to get hold of these items? Some of the effects are gong for very high prices and I would like to know if this is how it always is or it is just a spike in the market?

For example I would love to buy Future Clock - but bidding on that site is already $130+ with more than 3 days to go .... Is this a good price? Is there any place where I can get an idea of an effects value?

Any help / suggestions etc would be really appreciated

Best to all!

Hi, Cliff -

I know what you mean - some of the prices online are incredibly high. My advice is to keep an eye open - I've been lucky to find some reasonably-priced items at magic swap meets, for example. In addition, having a good network (such as the group here) is a great resource as well - if I see something that I have but know someone else is looking for, I'll tip them off to it. Unfortunately, I, too, am looking for a Future Clock, so I won't be any help to you on that one. If you have a list of items you are looking for, post them here, and perhaps some of the folks here will have duplicates that they may be willing to part with.

Good luck -

Mark

I've got a bunch of dupes I'm going to sell shortly to folks who post here regularly--those who I know give a crap and will appreciate them, because they are going to be priced more reasonably than the nutty stuff on eBay. A Future Clock will be among them!

Hi Cliff,

I am a beginner too and stumbled on the same problem when looking for some rare Tenyo. I was very surprised when I saw those ebay-prices.
A good price-guide would be extremely helpful!

The short answer is to use Google to find Tenyo items being sold online by various magic shops around the world. You have to be careful now that Chinese crap copies have started coming onto the market. It's always worth emailing the shop FIRST and double checking that the item is an original Tenyo product. The email you receive back will serve as something to present to your credit card company if you need to have the charges reversed because you were lied to.

I've never really done any advertising to present the blog outside of this forum. I do not like to say that I am for something regarding this new arrival of collectors and the fact that prices on ebay fly. But I'm sure if I made an intense advertising campaign for the blog in all magic forums around the world, prices will increase exponentially over a short period.

Another Tenyo seller is listing his items as new but then in the description notes that the package was opened from the bottom. Are these seller blind or just stupid? An item listed as new cannot be opened at all.

Unfortunately, it's not just Tenyo items. This kind of deception runs across many EB categories, especially electronics. People list items as New, when the pictures obviously show otherwise, or they state right in their description that it is "lightly used" or "only slight scratched". If you write to these nimrods to point out their dishonesty, they respond with "!@#$ you", and that's all that can be done about it. This has happened so many times that if I use the "New" filter in the search now, I always study the pictures and read the descriptions carefully.
