Hi all,
Just a quick update, firstly apologies for the delay on this, It has proved to be a lot harder to put this effect into words than I thought due to the small subtleties and extra routines I have added so please bare with me, I'm hoping to have this completed by tonight or latest tomorrow.  Also special thanks to Michael Murray for the inspiration that lead me to this.  I will throw out a few review copies as soon as its ready.  All the best  R |

Russ sent me a copy this afternoon to read over. I'll state, before I go any further, that me and Russ are friends (He even uses my unreleased Moonshine deck in the preview and explanation) but I'm being total honest in what I write here.
Well, this 'review' is coming a little late because as soon as I read through the explanations and let all the nuances sink in, I literally had to go and test it out. Any of you who read through this, will get the same feeling too, I'm sure of it. It reminds me of the Derren Brown effect from his TV series, where has a spec think of a famous person and then change their mind before revealing it. Something about having the spectator change their mind AFTER selecting card, just makes it that much more impossible. Anyway, so I went and tested it out on my girlfriend. Who doesn't like magic and doesn't really play along with it. I performed it and it absolutely FLOORED her. The best thing, which makes it for me was when she said, and I quote "But I changed my mind and there's no way you could've know what I was thinking, seriously now!" To even get a false reaction from her is good but to get this, has made my day. The booklet is well written, concise but doesn't cut corners and has links that take you straight to youtube to see a live performance built in to the eBook. Russ also covers multiple handling, including impromptu, brief or advanced set ups (all of which are simple to do) and lastly, Russ covers 7 types of really strong reveals. This effect is SUPER practical and crazy hard hitting. If any of you know me, I'm not the type to dish out praise for anything that doesn't deserve it but this absolutely does. Bravo Russ! 10/10 Lloyd |

I also got a review copy from russ today , I don't know russ personally only via email and this is a totally unbiased review.
Like Lloyd I also can't wait to try this out , the booklet covers everything from performance to set up to alternative handlings , this includes a method where you can borrow a deck , there is also a method where the spectator can shuffle the deck before cutting . Everything russ describes can be done , and there are also ideas on different reveals . I would recommend this 100% Great work russ And if you buy this ypu won't be disappointed I'm sure Carl |

I am also in ownership of a review copy and can concur with the other reviewers that this is an excellent effect (and a brilliant methodological thought process). I am certain that people will have no problem performing this. With any effect the spectator 'could' mess it up for you. Even the most basic self worker could be screwed by a rogue spectator. However, from a method POV there is no reason at all that this shouldnt work 100% of the time. Again Mr Muscle - drop it before you look any more foolish on this one. You've had your say, aired your views, from here on in it's trolling James Brown |

I have just finished to read this. Well, this is good.
Rus gives a lot of explanations, details, youtube links with some additional info (not by him, but for some reference on the moves, etc.) on how to perform this effect well and in great detail. I like the idea, it is indeed one "particular case" of the more general concept I explained in my previous post: Quote:

The deck can indeed be shuffled if you want (after a very short set-up). Every aspect of the routine is explained and detailed, nothing is left apart. I have tried it on my wife and on a couple of friends, and they liked it a lot. It is less "pure" than just thinking of card for them, and then I reveal it, but still very nice and good. Basically, if you don't give a good presentation of this effect ("cut where you want, change your mind, to make things more randomized, so that I have no clue on the card you will fall of..."), then I think a simple ID is much more powerful. BUT if you have a solid presentation (Rus gives some ideas about that), this effect rocks! If I had to give a rate, as it seems to be "Ã la mode" (trendy) now, I would give AKA a solid 7/10.

Rus and I have never met, but he did email me a copy of the manuscript. I suppose it has more to do with the fact that in correspondence, I had pretty much come to the same idea that Rus had in making this effect work. It turns out that the method is 100% what I had supposed, which is a great thing, imo.
The manuscript is crisp, concise, and candid. Rus leaves nothing unmentioned, and the pictures and ideas are clearly and completely explained. Some ideas can only be merely referenced as I'm sure Rus couldn't reveal certain things without permission, but he gives sources and credits for those items for those "not in the know." However, it is likely if you have been in magic for even a little while, you will know what he is referencing. The effect itself is quite good. After first seeing the demo, I set out to try the effect as I supposed it was done, and I received wonderful reactions all 5 times I tried this out. Some questions I think have been asked, yet not answered: Can this be done with a borrowed, shuffled deck? YES Can it work 100% of the time? YES Will it always work as shown in the demo? Not always, but most often. In the event that it does not, the effect is VERY similar (i.e. little variance in the performance) Can it be impromptu? Not all variations are impromptu, but some are Overall, I love the the ideas presented here and the way this is put together. This is simple, powerful, and somewhat bold magic. This is well within everyone's reach, and I would definitely suggest picking it up. Even in the event you don't prefer the effect/method, there's still much that could be learned here in the way of new ideas. That's my 2 cents. Please take that as you will. |

I am sorry to say that Musclemagic has crossed the line, attempting to guilt trip, bully, and otherwise attack ad hominem anyone who posts about AKA in a positive light. I have just received a very negative PM from Musclemagic. My reply was to point out that I have no ties with Rus in any way, but this effect DOES work. As I noted,
"Can it work 100% of the time? YES Will it always work as shown in the demo? Not always, but most often. In the event that it does not, the effect is VERY similar (i.e. little variance in the performance) " In my opinion, I can't make this point any clearer without exposure. This is indeed workable, and can be performed as shown. Do recall, that sometimes in demos, a routine is shown in the best possible light. However, there is little variance in outcomes. |

James Brown is in my opinion one of the UK's top working performers and by his own admission he feels uncomfortable posting on here and who can blame him with t-ts like magicmustle and others around.Whats happening to this place ??no wonder a lot of the serious contributors don't bother anymore

Hi everyone,
I have just read over this manuscript and knew more or less how it worked before getting it.As Rus say's he was inspired to come up with this after talking with Michael Murray. Michael is a good friend of mine and even though I have never met Rus, I also consider him a friend(who I have talked to over the phone & via email & text) with some excellent real world creations which really deliver. This is one of them. This works exactly as shown and CAN BE DONE WITH A BORROWED SHUFFLED DECK. No pipe dreams or compliant spectators. It's very good and is an absolute fooler. Also it's easy to do and there are lots of ideas and variations in the pdf. which is very well put together.I have come up with a couple of ideas myself(one of which I mentioned to Mikey M this morning). Rus has done a very good job with this release and I recommend it. I am not a name on the magic circuit, but I do make my living from being a full time close up magician and if I know something is good I say so. Thanks for putting this out Rus you have struck gold with it. Ps. also check out Michaels Springboard effect when this comes out (as recommended by Rus in his pdf). Mike Donoghue |

I've been using this trick for the past few days and honestly it's absolutely brilliant!
I've been searching for an effect this clean for a long time. The reactions I have been getting are so strong, honestly one of my all time favourite things to perform I think. To a spectator, this is a thought of card prediction with an extremely strong method. Well done Rus, great work once again! |
