Ok I know this is probably the wrong area to post this but I wanted to share a quick review of the 2013 Magi-Fest - that was just held in Columbus, Ohio. Many of you may have not realized but this eighty-three-year-old tradition almost died. Which would have been a great loss to the magic community. To those of you who have never ventured to the midwest for the Magi-Fest you really miss out on a great convention. Last year after the announcement that the Magi-Fest was going to be cancelled Joshua Jay and Andi Gladwin teamed up to save the Magi-Fest - "Magi-Fest has been completely re-imagined: more talks, shorter and stronger shows, more lectures, all events held in one location, a more focused dealer room, and more interaction for everyone with featured artists" Well in a nutshell it was absolutely a great convention. We were treated with a great line-up of magic and lectures that was absolutely fantastic. Just a quick rundown but we enjoyed absolutely great magic and lectures from Simon Lovell, John Guastaferro, Scott Robinson, Dani DaOrtiz, John Archer, Simon and Ginny Aronson, Troy Hooser and Justin Flom among others. Sorry if I left anyone out, but in my book that is a ton of great magic. Dani DaOritz, John Archer and Justin Flom were absolutely unbelievable. I won't ramble on but I do want to say a great big thank-you to Mr. Joshua Jay and Andi Gladwin for a fantastic convention and saving a great tradition in Magic, they are definitely one class act. I have been coming to the Magi-Fest for nearly 30 years and I can't imagine not being able to attend each year. Thank-you very much.

Agreed. Loved it. I hope they keep the format the same next year.

Joe,
Sorry I missed seeing you. Would have loved to have caught up. Total success this year. Were hoping to draw about 350 the first year back and the 600+ vastly exceeded expectations. Challenge now on for next year to top it. |

Thanks for the wonderful review. We learned a lot this year. Things that worked, things that did not and what needs to improve.
