The effect: show a cane with two silks tied to both ends, put down the cane. A silk is picked up and vanished via your favorite method. On picking up the cane, the cane vanishes, leaving the missing silk tied to the other two silks which were tied to the cane.
Wow, I was playing with it last night and I must say it is indeed a little gem. If you want to add a twist to your traditional 20th century silks, then give this a consideration. it's is really a colorful effect, great for any stage worker. yujie

I use it in one of my acts and a vaninsh the silk by changing it to a matching cane at the same time as my assistant transforms the cane into the silk and it plays great.

I would reccomend that if you like effects of this nature, to get the Fantasio lectures at the magic castle, video tapes volumes 1 and 2. There is a wealth of great information on them and secrets that you just do not get from any other source. I have both of them and use them a lot.
Another classy effect that is not done much these days is the color changing canes via having the silk shoot across as the change is being made. Very magical and ends with the cane vanishing into two silks.

It seems you are in Phillie. I have been doing the triple color changing cane for over 20 years, with the silk draped over the canes. The silk will not travel if you give a slight motion upon making the change. I still use my orginial set with the green cane. This works well for me to follow up with a Rice Blendo effect. Bill |

Bill:
Great stuff and it really makes for an exciting presentation. It just takes practice and dedication to set it up properly, but the reactions are well worth the effort. Kyle

Kyle,
For some reason color changes go over very well with audiences. It really gets the reactions. Bill |

Probably because it is just so visual in nature. The change is obvious to the eye when it happens and it just looks very magical. I have always gotten a good reaction from this effect.

Now, would the canes transform exactly at the same time, or would you wait a beat for the audience to follow?

You should wait a beat. A person can only look at one thing at a time.
Give the spectators time to realize what has just happen. Back when I first started doing magic, I would do a torch to cane. But, the way that I did it was for my box jumper to walk out on stage holding the torch. She would stop and wave the torch a few times. Then she would toss the torch high into the air toward me. The torch would change into a cane about half way to me. I would catch it with my left hand and point my right hand toward the spectators and fire off a hand flasher. I received good remarks from people about it. Ray |

So, that means, for a moment, there would be TWO canes present.
