Hello everyone! I've been lurking for a while, popping in and out, here and there. Guess it's about time to introduce myself!
My name is Mark and I'm 27 years old. Young. Whatever. For the past few years I've picked up various books, but never really had much time to dig into them. Well, I've just recently dusted them off and thought I'd have another go! My collection thus far: ----------------------- Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic J.B. Bobo's Modern Coin Magic Bill Tarr's Now You See It, Now You Don't and a good chunk of the Tarbell Course I'm most interested in sleight of hand, so I'm assuming I'm off to a good start, but I'd love to start with the fundamentals (sleight of hand or not) and work my way up. Suggestions are more than welcome! Just looking for that "OOMPH" to really get going. Anyways, glad to be a part of the community! If anyone here is from my local area, please let me know with a PM! |

Welcome Ryskill,
Pick a simple effect, one you think you can learn easily and dive in. Presentation and connecting with the audience are the crux of simple effects (and more complex effects as well). Magicians learn one thing at a time just like everybody else, The repertoire of a thousand effects begins with a single effect, etc... Enjoy the journey. Keep track of your progress in a note book. It will be fun and instructive to look at later. Hey look, there's an "OOMPH", GRAB IT! -Mary Mowder |

The thing with magic is separating the wheat from the chaff and The Café is a great place to get educated about what's good and what should be recycled in memory of the trees that gave their lives. Don't be afraid to ask questions and to answer them. Most of us are relative beginners - even the masters, so please jump in and welcome to The Café! |
