I guess it would depend how bad your spelling is
Kidding. I'm interested in the pre-release copy because it'd be neat to have the collectible earlier and I was already going to support your kickstarter to help get the book printed. I like the idea that you can get your book out there for people to read and benefit from without requiring an incredibly large investment up front from your pocket to print it. you're a great person and its so nice to see our community rally behind you like this! Are you numbering your drafts? I'll take copy #1 off your hands! |

Thanks, everyone! And, as crazy as it sounds, it looks like I'm actually going to make it!
I have a BIG problem, though... With all my other work (The AIP Bottle, Industrial Revelation, and the Vault), you know EXACTLY what you're getting. A deck of cards inside a bottle , a steel block that a quarter can be pushed through, and a cardbox protector. There is no way to feel cheated or ripped off. And that's always been my thing- since I truly feel we're all pals, I never want you to feel cheated or lied to when interacting with me. And I'm super proud that it's never happened. But with a book, it's hard to tell you exactly what you're getting. I can give you all the marketing keywords, "You're going to make a TON of MONEY, working gigs will never be so EASY, become a worker faster than ever!! The new textbook on working gigs!!" but, as we all know, no one really believes (or should believe) the hype. So what can I do? I want everyone to know exactly what they're getting... Here's my solution: I'm going to give away the first dozen chapters free of charge. Just send me an e-mail to SendWonder@gmail.com with the subject title "Magic Café Dozen" That's it. However, since nothing is truly free, I only ask the following: 1) Remember that this is the draft copy. There will be errors. So be gentle. 2) Please post here what you think. Did it help? Do you look forward to more? 3) PRINT OT THE PAGES if you are able! It's imperative that you fill them out! One of my goals of this book was to also be a reference FOR ME! As a worker, I want to be able to open the book and see my own notes and , say, "Oh yeah! I almost forgot that!" And this is the biggest caveat: This project has turned into a WORKBOOK for working magicians. Almost like a study/reference guide. The first 12 start at the very beginning and get deeper further on. I guess that's it. I have no idea if this is a good idea or not, but it seems like the right thing to do. Looking forward to the thoughts! Who's in? ~jamie ![]()

The first 12 chapters are a delight to read and full of valuable advice (that I wish more magicians would follow).
I wish I had read this book back when I was 16 and just starting out. It would've saved me a lot of time getting to where I am now. Thanks, Jamie! You are truly one of the great innovative thinkers in redefining what magic is all about.

I truly enjoyed reading the sample chapters in Jamie's upcoming guide, The Approach. The format is extremely refreshing and is an absolute pleasure to read.
The style of The Approach is much like if you had a one-to-one with Jamie over a cup of coffee. He shares stories and advice that builds on one another, giving you lifelong lessons that can extend far beyond being a magician. While reading, I felt like it was a mini-version of "Chicken Soup for the Magic Soul". One aspect I really enjoyed is that Jamie challenges you with questions that force you to be honest with yourself, then he shares how he would answer the same questions. This makes you feel comfortable about getting out of your comfort zone - which can be very uncomfortable for those who never been honest with themselves. I believe those who will take Jamie's guide to heart and fill in the blanks will greatly benefit from the advice in these pages. My closing thoughts on The Approach; this could be very well the best piece of magic you could own. If there was a 101 on magic, The Approach would be the class. Oh, and it has some great advice for workers too. |

Wow!
I've had 100 e-mails in 4 hours, lol. Let's see what everyone says! Philemon, yabi, and Markymark: Thank you SO MUCH for those kind words. When you spend such a crazy amount of time on something, you can often play head games with yourself as you wonder how it's going to be received. I'm going to need a huge break after this, lol. ~jamie
