I have one of the prop cases that Sammy Smith sold, similar to his "Baby Prop Case" (you can see that on his site) but the original large size. Unfortunately, the hinges on it just failed, and it won't close properly anymore, so I need a replacement. I use it on a folding tray stand...just come in, pop open the stand, put the case on it, and you're ready to go.
Wow, is it tough to find a similar case! The size of the original is 23 1/4" wide, 15" front to back, 6 3/4" deep (these are interior dimensions.) Ideally I'd like something the same size, or a bit bigger, and with a top that stays open at 90 degrees, instead of flopping all the way over. And it would be nice if it wasn't too heavy, either. There are a lot of cases out there on the net but nothing quite like this. I might go with a Pelican case if nothing else looks good, like this one: http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1600 The top flips all the way back, but at least it would be indestructible! And there's a clone of the Pelican which looks OK but isn't quite as big: http://www.boltonhardware.com/category/b......case.php That one also looks very sturdy. Does anyone have any other links? |

May be of interest to you.
http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsear......num+case We have a Hourbor Freight store here in Tucson, AZ. Most all the magicians here have one of each case. The look great and are also light weight. Last time I was there they had a bigger collection of cases on display.

There's one of those stores about 30 miles away, I may have to see if there's a way to set up a trip in that direction. Thanks!

I'm also talking to a company that will make a custom case to your dimensions - http://www.harnelcase.com/
We'll see how much they quote, it may be the best way to get what I want. |
