I am looking for new and deceptive full-deck false shuffles.
Does anyone want to post a comment on S. Beam Underhand shuffle? Thanks in advance Fabio |

Do you mean a false overhand shuffle or a false table shuffle?
False overhand - Bob King has one that is listed in the Appendix of "The Annotated Erdnase" that is very convincing. I do not like the GW Hunter false shuffle. I don't think it is very convincing. False Table shuffle - I recommend learning a good strip out or a good push through. Both of these, when done correctly are extremely convincing. Check out either Stars of Magic and Expert Card Technique. False in the air shuffle - I have not seen the Heinstein shuffle, but I have heard very good things about it. Guy Hollingsworth has a decent one and there is a great one listed in the Magic of LePaul.

So apparently you don't know Beam Underhand shuffle. I fully agree with you that Hollingworth in the hand riffle is very cool. Take a look at L Green in the hands false riffle-shuffle: it is very very good too

Beam's shuffle can be found in the booklet of the same name and also in Semi Automatic Card Tricks Volume 3. The first time I saw it I was quite impressed by how natural it looks, although I would suggest that you don't create too much attention towards it. That doesn't mean to misdirect, but just don't do it when your hands are being really burnt.
I love this shuffle! --Andi

Danny Archer has a great in the air false riffle-shuffle. It is very deceptive and suprisingly easy to do. It can be found on his video "Working alone" and also in his lecture notes. I`ve heard that David Harkey and Eric Anderson have a good false shuffle and bridge in their book Ah-Ha. Has anyone here used it? By the way, I don`t think you should ever create too much attention towards a false shuffle. Just do it nonchalantly while you are chatting with the spectators.

I am not familar with Beam's underhanded shuffle, but I have been working on Dan Garrett's Underhanded Overhand Shuffle. It is easy and convincing.
Available on his Cabaret Connivery video as well as some of his lecure notes including TopTen. --Kris |

Although they're quite similar, I prefer Guy Hollingworth's shuffle over this one. There are times that you need to bring attention to the shuffle, for exmaple during a Triumph routine. The shuffle is the vital part for setting up the effect. As for me, I'll be sticking with the Heinstein Shuffle for many years to come. --Andi

Guy Hollingworth's in the hands false shuffle is very good. It will take some practice, but it is worth learning. If you are looking for a tabled false shuffle, you can never go wrong with the zarrow shuffle.

Hi,
I have always used Tamariz's in the hands riffle shuffle on the rare occasions that I actually shuffle the deck false or otherwise. phillip |

Yes Andi, I should have mentioned that. Of course there are some exceptions and the false shuffle that is used must be selected according to the nature of the effect. But generally speaking, if you are simply false shuffling to retain a stack there is no need to bring attention to the shuffle. Risto |

Good Call Andi!!!
The Heinstein shuffle is great. It's not to hard to learn ( you guys can get it in a few weeks of practice) it took me about 10 hours to get it to look convincing. two thumbs up!!! |

I have a false overhand shuffle, called the Smear Shuffle, which keeps the deck in complete order (top card is still the top card after the shuffle). It's quite easy to do and works great for packets, too.
PM me if you'd like details.
