Hi guys! First of all, this looks great! I love book tests, and I've developed a couple of my own. From what I've seen, I have a good idea of what the actual gimmick is, but if its what I think, I'll be getting this just for the handlings and psychology, because that is what makes this one really stand out from what I've heard.

I'm very new to the magic Café, and I'm not sure how messaging works, or if this is OK in terms of etiquette, but could someone who owns the effect message me? I have a guess as to how the effect works, and I'd love to see if I'm correct, or if I just came up with a new idea! Either way, I'm happy. If someone could message me anyways, that would be great, just so I can see how messaging works in the Café. Thanks!

Bought this and watched the DVD tonight. Love it. Nothing new in the methods, but the routining and subtleties definitely have me hooked. Clear explanations, and a lot of ideas and fuel for additional work. I am very happy to have picked this up, and will be doing some arts and crafts this weekend to get myself started.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

This looks like what Collins Key did on AGT Vegas the other night.

This is the exact effect he did on AGT. And he's going to Radio City Music Hall because of it.

This is very good -- a very clean handling of Pegasus page.

One thing that drive me nuts with AGT is the hardcore editing that unrealistically makes a performance like this look even more impressive. I realize that time is short and it is the nature of the beast but it still makes these performances move overly quickly.

I didn't find this presentation to be very edited at all. It's exactly the same way this effect appears when performed. However, there was a bit of pre-show work that I despise of. That might have been Howie's book, but it wasn't simply brought from his house to the stage, there was a step in the middle.

If my memory serves me correctly, his dollar bill chip bag trick involved some Howie pre-show work, too. And wouldn't you know it, that chip bag wasn't just a random bag he found backstage.

Nonetheless, I love the show, love the effect, and love the way the effect was presented on this show. I think this kid's next effect will have to play a lot bigger in order to stay in the running. However, I'd like to present a prediction as to what he will do. I predict Gazzo's Tossed Out deck. Seems like his style.

I liked too. Enough to order it actually.

But these come off as fast food mentallism at times seeking the end result without any emotional path getting there. With AGT there's probably no time for that because of the format. Hence it feels more like mental magic than mentallism to me.

I think this young man has a super stage presence.

To call it "mental magic" is probably 100% correct. I don't think there is an attempt at creating anything other than that.

His bill to impossible location is making no attempts at mentalism, and his "Booked" presentation has the "selected" page wind up in an envelope. I don't think mind reading, mentalist, or anything of that nature was even attempted, let alone emotion.

But to call imply "mental magic" is a negative thing...I think it works here just fine.

It was a bit of do***baggery when the kid suggested that he is the "heartthrob of magic."

Cuba A Libre would be a good trick for him to do next.

Oh, and I'm offended by his statement that all us "old guys" just "make cards appear".
I do nothing of the sort! My character is hot, sexy Trailer Trash!
I still wish him well.

Let's see how many of those old guys that make cards appear have to be his consultants if he has a Vegas act, 'cause as of now he's only been a presenter of a bunch of old guys' effects, not a creator.

This week none of the judges disclosed that it was obvious they were not logged into twitter when Tweeting.

I know this is going to sound harsh but, I was not impressed by this performance. Even given the time restraints of the show and based on his previous performance I feel like this could have been performed better. Just my two cents...

The tweets all went to the nbcagt twitter account, I'm presuming by someone monitoring and retyping them into the account, but curious how you know they weren't logged in?

There's definitely no time for it. My understanding, based on seeing it commented on in several places, is that they have 90 seconds. The official site says 90 seconds for the auditions prior to seeing the judges, but I haven't seen anything (haven't looked very hard) which confirms that you also only get 90 seconds in front of the judges. Even if it's not 90 seconds, it's definitely a very limited amount of time.

I assumed the entire "Twitter" component was irrelevant, or at least it was only there as part of the presentation or as advertising, or just in case someone said something that wasn't easily spelled, or all of the above. Isn't there a better place to discuss this kid rather than hijacking the thread for one of his tricks?

That presentation just seemed a bit lazy on AGT, still a great trick!
