I'd give my advice, but you wouldn't like it.

I brought my set I use from Davenports in London. The center link is strong and well hidden join. it als gose dull and a bit rusty however it can shine up well depending the look you want, The chains that come of around you wrist are well joined and look and feel strong. I would like them be a bit thicker for the look. I replaced the locks just because I wanted something a bit more dated. I did not look at many other set however I have looked at other sets in shops and to be honest I am quite happy with my set.
I looked on Davenports site I could not find them. But do contact thenm they do do them http://www.davenportsmagic.co.uk/index.html Please note I am not a expert on these things but I do like mine and use them a fair bit.
Enjoy your magic,

I’m interested to know why you (pbj100) want a set with a ‘thick oval centre”? The smaller or narrower the centre section is the more robust the method remains. As the mechanics and handling are no easier with a thicker oval I can’t think what the attraction is of an set with a thicker oval section.

I can't see what the attraction is to these--period.

I think that Steve is saying the Oval Escape (Or the In again Out Again) is akin to a tenyo effect compared to a blamo.
I see both sides of the issue and personally, will use the oval at parties or cub scout meetings (where it's the only escape) but wouldn't include it where I'm doing the 10' rope tie or a Jacket escape because the speed that one gets in and out makes all other escapes look suspect.

Good point Steve, and so I think the key to making them work is to take the focus off of them. Don't make the escape about them, make at about a story, or a series of comedy bits or what ever.
