...if you count a Sabbatical as 35 years (chuckle)
Once upon a time, back when I was between the ages of 12 and 18, I used to perform magic for friends and fun. I even had a stage act that I did once or twice way back then as well. Now after surviving Stage-4 rectal cancer, and going back to work full-time...my wife said I needed a hobby of some sorts. Since I had so much fun with magic back in the day, I decided to take up the craft once again. At 53, I notice that my hands are bit more fleshy (making it easier to hide palmed cards and coins), but my dexterity is not what it used to be. I'm thinking that perhaps in the next year, after I work the kinks out of the hands, I might put together the old act (maybe with a focus on street / restaurant magic). Just happy to be here... |

Where have you been? We've missed you! --Glad you are back! LOL!
I lost my first magic mentor, Stuart Ross, to similar cancer in 1949. In the three years we had, we crammed a lot of magic experience in. I'm still a professional magician, but no longer do road tours. I keep my hand(s) in with occasional local shows. At 81, my hands need regular daily exercise. So, plan on a regimen! Welcome back to Magic surfdude621,
Better Magic than surfing. I find that washing some dishes in warm water is a good start to a practice session. It really warms your hands up nicely. It will make you popular with your wife as well. -Mary Mowder |

Thanks Mary. Though next time warn a guy before cracking a joke like that. I now have sticky soft drink splatter all over my computer screen.
