Hello to All (Finally) ...
I was finally able to register. My ISP had blocked TMC's IP address so I couldn't recieve the initial password email. I called them and they resolved the problem so all is working now (after having tried over and over to get registered for about a month). I have joined as part of planning for my retirement. Magic was always something I wanted to do but never had time to do it. I have purchased several books, DVDs, and tricks and supplies so far and am trying to develop some skills / knowledge. I have been lurking for quite a while - and what a wealth of information and very talented Magicians! So far I am most interested in card magic, sleight of hand, close-up and parlor. I am sure I will have questions down the road and am looking forward to being part of the community! Todd

My favorite three books (to help start you on your way):
1) The Amateur Magician's Handbook by Henry Hay (got this one from my school's library back when I was 14...taught me everything I know / knew). 2) Card College by Roberto Giobbi (excellent resource for learning card slight of hand), 3) New Modern Coin Magic by JB Bobo (Fantastic resource for coin slight of hand). Just throwing these three out...but they are / were the best for the limited budget minded...Tarbell is great but lots of volumes, so a bit more pricier (is that a word?). Welcome to the board. Roy |
