Which is the best all-around book for restaurant magic? I'm a beginner and have never done it before.

Try Kirk Charles' "Complete Guide to Restaurant and Walk-Around Magic," published by Stephen Minch's Hermetic Press.

Are you trying to find a book with good effects that work in restaurant situations, or are you trying to find a book that has information on how to get a gig doing magic at a restaurant?

In addition to the Kirk Charles book, I would like to suggest the Scott Hollingsworth book, CASHING IN ON CLOSE-UP MAGIC. THE MAGIC MENU, published by Jim Sisti, Vols. 1-5 and 6-10 available from L & L Publishing or your favorite dealer. Further, the notes of Jim Sisti are still contain some of the best material on getting a job, keeping a job, and good material.
Good luck in your search. Regards, Paul Green |

The Restuarant Workers Handbook has everything you need to know. The Magic Café's very own Scott Guinn has some great material on restuarant magic.

Carl Andrews has a great book out on Restaurant magic. Has tons of quick effects and advice on pocket management, approaching a table and stolling gigs. Almost all sides of the business is covered in his book.

A good source for information on how to WORK and or BOOKING restaurant gigs is available from Zack Waldman at
http://www.the-restaurant-magician.com/ It doesn't teach tricks, so be advised. I just spoke with him regarding expanding the book by adding a section of trick choices and pocket managment and he has some additional ideas on from the restaurants prospective. Kirk |
