This is very clever. I don't do too many impulse download buys, but since I carry this brand of Apple headphones around all the time, I thought I'd give it a shot. The first part of the routine I more or less got from the demo, but not the torn and restored. I had some ideas, but the ad copy, which is accurate, invalidated them. I definitely smiled when I learned the method, and while I haven't tried this out on anyone, I have played around in the mirror and after a few minutes got it looking as good as in the demo, which is completely accurate. (It will take a bit more practice to get the whole thing looking as smooth as Rick's presentation.) The downside here are the angles. (Again, noted in the ad copy.) This is primarily a one-on-one effect with the spectator (or maybe two... maybe) in front of you. And, as clever as it is, the method will not be for everyone. Hard to say more without exposing it. I'm fine with it, but I can imagine some folks not liking it. On the plus side, though, even though the primary method can be described with, as Rick says, a few words, the video goes into several subtleties of handling and one final convincer that can only have come from working this quite a bit. And, it is truly impromptu. (There is a small setup, but we are talking a couple of seconds.)
Production quality is, as always for T11, excellent. My only complaint with them is that they have no form of cloud storage option, like Penguin or even Dan and Dave. (Dan and Dave's streaming instead of download policy is annoying for those who want to learn without an open internet connection, but it does at least allow you to access the file again later.) I've bought a few T11 downloads over the years and have accidentally lost a couple of them while switching computers or after hard drive crashes. So, remember to back up. Overall, though, "ReCord" is recommended. |

I really like it and the torn part fooled me bad. The method is very clever.

Do you have to use that specific type of headphones to get the stretching bit to work? Or can this be done with any similar style headphones?

zavor New user 12 Posts |
Any similar would work just fine

If you mean similar style in that there is a microphone near the end, yes. If it's just a microphone with a cord going straight to the ear bud, no. Or, at least, Rick recommends not doing that phase of the routine with those kind of headphones. The microphone doesn't really have anything to do with the method, but it just gives you a visual reference point for the stretch. Otherwise, it might just look like you are running the cord through your fingers.

During the first break, the missing segment is hidden under his nose.
Can I do this if I don't have much of a nose? DD |

I came up with this variation of the first part of ReCord since I don't actually own a pair of earphones that have a microphone on, I'm not sure how well it works and I just wanted to know what you and other people think.

Some think Houdini used trap doors in his act, but he was just going through a stage.
