It depends on several factors, such as the venue, the crowd itself, and the individual routines in your arsenal. First you'll want to figure out how much time you want to spend per table, then figure out what you can do in that much time. If you've got a run of related effects that you can put together in that time, go for it. If you've got one that is really good but goes with a narrative or somesuch, but takes up all the time on it's own, you can do that too. You also don't want to do the same exact routine at neighboring tables, so make sure to have enough material for a few different short routines. If you've got enough material to do a 30 minute act, you should have enough material to cover several different tables before having to recycle.

Glad to have been of service. You may also want to check out Reel Magic Magazine, they often have a trick or two in an issue that is suitable for table hopping, many of which require only minimal gimmicks or props (if any) and often will use things that are already there on the table. You can find more info about that at http://themagiccafe.com/forums/viewforum.php?forum=236&1362 and I would highly recommend the on-demand subscription.

Hello Craig1986,
Magician Kirk Charles has some very useful resources for the Table Hopper / Restaurant Magician. http://www.kirkcharles.net/merch.php "Live at the Jailhouse" is a DVD set that features advice and knowledge from the best restaurant magicians in the business currently.
WHAT IF you wake up tomorrow with ONLY the things that you THANK GOD for today?

Mary Mowder just reminded me (and she knows, what's what!) that this discussion should be 'happening' in a close up forum. I think that's the right one. Just scroll down, and you'll find the appropriate one. I'll duck out for a minute, and return with the correct forum.
