Am I bothered?

What has North Korea have to lose? Except for China, thety haven't a friend in the world except for Dennis Rodman - which means that they have poor taste in friends as far as Rodman goes. I am not a person given to paranoia, but in this case, yes,I am very bothered. |

Wasn't the current Kim educated overseas? Surely no matter what nonsense he puts out for his poor people, he knows how it would all end, and would prefer not to end up dead or in a supermax for the rest of his days.

I think perhaps China and OZ should invade North Korea.

The North says a lot of things, I also read somewhere that they are years away from developing a nuclear weapon. Now that doesn't mean they still can't acquire one but hopefully their bark is bigger then their bite. I wish we lived in a perfect world and never had to deal with any bs wars.

North Korea is a perfect world from the watermelons point of view.

The US and South Korea are about to hold joint military exercises on the Korean peninsula. I don't think that is a smart move. Better I think to let North Korea cool off.

Agree with magicfish - everyone's tried not to upset them for years without them improving their behaviour.

Besides, I am not eager to see a war that could have been preventable with some level headed thinking on our part getting triggerred un-necessarily. It seems China is coming around with cooperating on sanctions, so I would just rather work with the Chinese in keeping NK contained or in check without triggerring another massive bloody war on the peninsula. I am no war monger and I certainly wouldn't want to see my countrymen dragged into another mess. I don't believe in appeasement, but this isn't Hitler's Germany or Imperial Japan who are seeking to take over the world either that we are dealing with. If the North Koreans were to actually lob a missle at us, which I doubt they currently have the tech to reach, it would be quite easy for our nuclear forces to respond. But that's something we are trying to prevent.

I understand why the United States is conducting (or is about to start conducting) joint military exercises with South Korea just next door to North Korea ... more power to the U.S. for protecting South Korea ... but given that the United States announced its military is massing and conducting military exercises one country over with North Korea's enemy / frenemy, seriously, is it any great wonder that North Korea responds with a statement like it did?

Nuking them till they glow won't change the unimaginable devastation that their missile would cause us.
