I'm still trying to figure out what you meant two posts back when you said my argument was "pretty pod." Did you mean pretty bad or pretty good? I need to know before I accept you as a juror!

I don't think I like the idea of the jury being allowed to ask questions but I don't know you mean by that. I will need to see it in action.

It's really a throwback to old common law days when jurors were actually required to be familiar with the defendant and the crime prior to the trial. I'm not sure if I like the idea either, but I've never had to deal with it. It could be a valuable way for the attorneys to know which way a jury was leaning so that they could tailor their closing arguments accordingly, but it could also result in giving undeserved weight to an individual juror's mere speculation that goes beyond the actual evidence presented at trial. |

In England the jury can send a note to the judge to ask something or other - a question of law etc - but they can not put questions to witnese's. Least I do not think so.

When I say much more likely to be guilty, it's sort of relative, but mathematically, I mean much less likely to be innocent. Which sounds like the same thing, but I mean in perspective. Let's say that Anthony is 98% likely to be guilty and Arias 99.9% likely. 99.9% really isn't "much more" than 98; but I mean in the sense that 2 (100-98) is 20 times as much as 0.1 (100-99.9), so Anthony would be considered 20 times more likely to be innocent. I'm just making up numbers here for illustration.

Now you're confusing me, too! Arias is 100 percent likely to be guilty of SOMETHING since she has already admitted to the killing. The question, as we've said, is just the degree of homicide. That was not the case in either the Simpson or Anthony cases where acquittal was always a possibility.

Jody has my mesmerized. I have only read about psycho killer before, and Jody is a non repentent psycho killer who has a smart ass answer for everything. I love the shooting, knifing, sex, blood, lies and having alleged abuse as some sort of a cockamame motive with fresh buttered pop corn in the middle afternoon. My vote is that Jody will get a first degree conviction, and if she doesn't get death nobody should ever get it. In the words of Madame Defarge "off with her head"

Now you're confusing me. . She's pleading self-defense...if she has a valid self-defense claim, she wouldn't be guilty of any form of homicide.

She wouldn't be guilty of murder. If she proved self defense the death would be a justifiable homicide. But there's no way the defense, as presented so far, has established that. I think the closest they could get would be involuntary manslaughter, but that would be a stretch.

Sorry, I meant any form of homicide for which shed be criminally liable. I agree it hasn't been remotely established, which is why I said I was just using the numbers as examples. In the Arias case, I think you need a whole bunch of 9's after the decimal point.

Justifiable homicide would be a miracle.
The prosecutor is trying to prove that she stabbed him first and the rest was just for fun.

Naw- once our great "legal system" gets crankin' she will have her own "dream team", convince the jury that she needed all those efforts to defend herself, be submerged in marriage proposals, write a book and become a millionaire. She be a star...

You are assuming that it is possible for the defense team to put lipstick on this pig. The defense team is in way over their heads, and can't avoid looking stupid.

Thousands of "questionable" people cross our borders every day, so what is one more?
Guilty or Not depends on the skill of the lawyers.

I got to watch this yesterday, and all I could think was "This woman lies like breathing. Every time she opened her mouth she stuck her foot in it. Prosecution was slicing and dicing her like putting her through a Waring Blender."
But, ya' know? She may JUST get away with it.

I think the prosecution is doing a good job of showing that it was pre-meditated.
When she went to Arizona for the kill: she rented a car (requesting one that wouldn't stand out), took 3 five gallon cans of gas (so she wouldn't have to fill up in Arizona), and dyed her hair (so she wouldn't be recognized). Then when she left Arizona (though she was in a fog) she started calling friends saying she had been lost and driving in the wrong direction for hours. She even called Travis and left him messages as though he were still alive. That paints a pretty good picture for pre-meditated. |

Jody Arias is not an illegal alien. She is standing trial for murder.
