As most of us know, many weddings don't stick to their intended schedule....bride lost an eyelash, limo ran over a dog...etc. As such, for those of you who book wedding shows, do you just not book anything later in the day just in case the table hopping during the reception gets started late? If they start you late, do you charge extra for the wait time?
I often do birthday shows on Saturdays, but I also do an occasional wedding. I've not yet experienced the schedule issues that I've raised, but I know that it's coming. Thanks. |

As I do birthdays on the weekends and private parties as well I usually block off a half day to account for a wedding.
The last wedding I performed at a month ago I got a flat tire on the way to the gig, still ended up being early. I was to do walk around magic and a show. The ceremony got done at 5pm, and hour after schedule. I did my hour of walk around magic and the show was to be shortly after cocktail hour. I didn't start performing until 9pm. With weddings these things happen and I am sure to account for them. I also am sure that I get paid enough to cover my half day off and then some.
