Hey
How many tricks do you have in a 30 - 45 min stage show? And what is your favorite stage magic trick? Thanks Karsten |

I have enough effects to entertain my audience, and my favorite trick is the one that the audience enjoys the most.
I don't mean to be facetious, but the question is not going to produce meaningful answers apart from an exchange of opinions at best. There can be no definitive answers because one person may have three tricks and another may have fifty. And they are probably both just as likely to be good as to be mediocre or as likely to be bad. Very recently I saw a performer do 90 minutes of extremely entertaining effects numbering about as many as I do in 30 minutes. As to favorite effects, a person's favorite cannot count as anything but an opinion. If your intent is to simply make conversation, great. But if you are hoping to actually learn something, I think you might think of more effective questions. |

As Frank Simpson wrote, some professional comedy magician can only do 3 tricks or complete routines in 30 to 45 minutes. Some perform 5 tricks or routines. It all depends on your script, patter, actions and plot.
Others can do 20 tricks, it all depends how they mix the above, and type of tricks in the mix. This could involve Grand Illusions as well as smaller intermediate routines. Favorite is as they mentioned above as well. As a person discovers what he likes and dislikes in magic, some become very effective for the performer to present. Again there is many reasons for this to happen as well. Some are fun to perform and some turns receive so much of a reaction from the audience, they find themselves difficult to leave it out or replace it position in the show with anything else. Some of my favorite stand-up stage magic is utilizes rope, a bag, a candle, silks, bottles, gimmicks, and some food products. |

My 20 minute show has 3 effects.
My 1/2 hr kids show has 8 My 45 minute stage act has 10 My 7 minute has one Also depends on the age of the group, the venue, the lighting, the sound.

To answer your question, generally, I do about 15 tricks in a 45+ minute show. Some tricks are quickies, like needle thru balloon, diminishing cards, and other tricks are longer because of my setup story. These might be my visible sawing thru body, or the chair suspension.
