Today I did a quick vanish of a silk for one of my friends. He looked politely and said that was pretty good. He said the grandkids would like that. Then he says, my father does the same thing with a lit cigarette. I asked him if he knew how he did it? He says “yeah. (**** mentions the secret ****) Is that the way you did yours?” I said, “No, I crumple mine up and send it off to never never land *.“
The whole point is that he saw it but still didn't SEE it. It’s all in the presentation. Practice and don't sweat the small stuff. Others in here will second the fact its all in the performance, and give stories about the same thing happing to them. Some have fooled other magi who knew the secret. |

Some people just don't like magic or don't like to be fooled. Even if they don't know how it is done, they are never going to be wowed as they think to themselves "It's just a trick."

A friend of mine was with me when we saw a magician doing the same vanish. His comment was “He hid that well.” When pressed on this he explained “Well, he had it in his hand didn't he?”
Some people will grab an explanation and cling to it, even if is wrong. They are then satisfied they know how its done. |
