Hi all,
I recently purchased a Dodo bird puppet from Steve Axtell (amazing quality by the way - and Steve is a super great guy) for my magic show. He'll be doing a rope trick with me - no vent involved. I need a silly name that starts with a "D". Axtell calls him Ding Dong, which I actually really like, but unfortunately, I have been getting criticism from people who insist I cant use it because Ding Dong is a well-known slang reference to a particular male body part... Be that as it may, can you throw me some fun and friendly D names for my Dodo bird? First one that comes to my mind is "Dizzy"... Thanks! |

Dionysus. The Greek god of wine, but also of ritual madness and ecstasy.

Doody Dodo (never to be said backwards as it would take on a whole different meaning, although that could make for a couple good lines).

How about Damian, Dougal, Dudley, Duke, Dusty, Dale or Dylan.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

Another idea I just got from a friend: Doodles
I'm trying to pick something that also makes some sense connecting his name to the magical bird he is... Keep em coming folks, and thanks! |

I know this isn't a "D" name but how about Frodo Dodo or Ohno Dodo
Or Disney, Deadsa (as in dead as a dodo), Destiny, Stick a star on his chest and call him Deputy Dodo, or, as you're from Florida, you could always call him Keys Just a few off the top of my head Best of luck Bill

I favor simplicity. I'm thinking maybe Dennis or Dave. Dave's a fine name.

You could put a bowtie on him and call him Dudley the dapper do-do...
Or if you are presenting him as a trained bird that does magic - Dudley Copperfield. |

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. As it stands, I'm going with "Dizzy". It works well with his look and I even include a joke in the routine which lends itself to that name. I must say though, there were some really clever ideas here and it is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Dizzy is my clown name. I demand royalties. (too bad I picked it before I found out that Dizzy is a very common clown name)
