Anyone who tosses-out tricks, for you to try, does not know what you like or your abilities and it's always a loosing battle but .... there are two methodologies to this.
You are either an inner-outer or an outer-inner in theatre terms. If you are an inner-outer then you imagine what will fill the need and seek the answer If you are an outer-inner then you need to watch a lot of other acts and emulate their qualities, in your own style I'm suggesting you take acting lessons so you can determine your scope, and watch a lot of Youtube. Typically, in a theatrical production a character is chosen (written) then the effects that support the role are applied. This is the reverse of what you're asking because the exact same trick may be performed by a character actor or a straight actor AND a completely different trick may be performed by both of those performers with completely different presentations.
