Today I acquired a Chuck Jackson figure fully loaded minus crossing eyes.

I always wanted but have never owned a wooden figure and have been trying to get a Chuck Jackson for sometime now because their look appeals to me.

Of course living in Australia makes it difficult to actually view any vent figure before I buy so I'm largely dependant upon pictures and reviews I might find on the web. This particular figure was made in the 70's is in very good condition and will become the other major star of my act.

I have scouted the web and found limited information about Chuck Jackson figures and so was therefore wondering if anyone here may have owned one or at least had the opportunity to use one?

I own one I bought from Dan Willinger. Controls are easy and smooth. Not as smooth as my Conrad Hartz figure, but smooth. What do you want to know, particularly?

I'm just interested in what people think about their Chuck Jackson figures in comparison to anything else out there considering I guess they're now considered a vintage item

Design of the face isn't as loveable as any Hartz I've seen. Still, the one I have has an unusual face with a beaky nose. The carving is well-done. The ears, particularly, are very detailed. The wig was set too far forward and got in the way of the moving eyebrows, but I've moved it back and it works much better. Again, the controls are smooth. Initially he bothered me a little, but that seems to be because he is neither smiling or scowling. The inside mechanics are well-ordered and neat.

Chuck Jackson made nice figures, good carving very good mechanics, you should be happy with it when you see it.

I was prepared to pay for a wooden figure with features of the Chuck Jackson, but unfortunately many people who sell high priced figures don't reply to emails. Like I mentioned I've seen a lot about the Chuck Jackson figures on the net and the look appeals to me. This particular one had been for sale and initially the seller didn't want to send overseas (some sellers are for some reason afraid to send internationally). Then I found out they had him on consignment and it just happened I knew the owner. So I spoke to the owner and got him.

I still haven't gotten a grasp on why they're so "great" but of course that will come in the ownership and use of him when he arrives. I suppose I'm a little trepidatious because previous purchases for me haven't exactly gone well (the Oddballs & Orphans Cat for example is way too small to be of any use to me, I wish I knew that and MJ's eyes have a constant audible squeak when moved from side to side ever since I received him). It's difficult buying something that you can't physically see or have something similar to compare to so I just have to trust what I've read on the net and what the seller tells me.

I'm really looking forward to his arrival and he will be dressed in a retro 70's suit and shoes which I had purchased for another figure (that purchase also went sour) and I think he'll look great in it.

Oh, so you're finally going to get to use that suit.

The reason the Jacksons are so "great" is just because they are very well made.

If that Oddballs and Orphans Cat was too small for you to use, so would one of the people figures - all of her figures are basically about the same size.

I'm one of those people who won't sell internationally - there is always a potential for problems just shipping something within this country, sending anything outside the country increases the potential for problems dramatically. The worst part is, something gets lost or destroyed, it's a longer, and probably messier project to get it straightened out.

The Oddballs & Orphans Cat is only 12 inches tall. His body is so small you have to tilt his head so the mouth control lever doesn't scrape against the inside.

The man figure wouldn't be much better. If he is any "taller", it would only be because his legs are longer. Like I said they're all basically the same size.

Oh well

Anyone want to buy a Cat Oddballs & Orphans? LOL
