I just heard the internal spring unravel inside the brass tube of my auto silk to ball. I did not over wind this (I count the winds each time I set it); it just happened.

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if anyone might know how to fix this.

If you purchased it from Viking Magic or have the Viking version, then get with George.

If you purchased an off brand, then you are on your own.

It sounds to me that the tail end of one of the springs broke. That can be caused by substandard wire used in the making of the spring.
