Is there a list of used magic dealers/websites on the Café for either buying or selling magic?
If not, I'd appreciate any suggestions of names and websites of some good used magic dealers. Thanks! ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Joe Long is a Café member (JL608). Send him a PM to be included on his email list, which comes out once or twice a month.
Terry Harris' website: http://www.oldmagicprops.com/homePg.htm Hocus Pocus: http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/ Select the "Antique/Private Estate" category. There are also the magic auction sites like KT Magic, Martinka, Magic Auction, and Ron Allesi Magic

Try Potter and Potter. They are the biggest and the best.

Michael gave a great list. And Kevin's recommendation of Potter & Potter is right on. They are indeed top notch (I collect their catalogs which says something), but I find their auctions and bidding process a bit intimidating. It's handled more like an art house...which is fine...just not my style of bidding. I prefer the simplicity of Martinka and KT Magic...that's just me.
Oh...Ron Allesi's site is no more. He now only has the International Magic Auction...which by the way, has a lot of great offerings and not many bidders since he only re-introduced it a few months ago. Get in on it before it gets hotter. Here are the links. I would also encourage you to subscribe to Martinka's site. It costs next to nothing, and gives you access to all of the past prices paid for all of their past auctions. KT Magic offers this function for free by the way...but Martinka's archives are much larger. http://www.internationalmagicauction.com/index.php http://www.ktmagic.com/Auction/xcAuction.asp http://www.martinka.com/martinka/auction/XcAuctionPro.asp Lastly, keep an eye on the sale items here on the Café...sometimes...not often, a fine vintage item will come up for sale. Genii magazine's site also has some vintage pieces appearing regularly. Enjoy!!!

Per Micahel Baker's post above, Hocus Pocus usually has a VERY substantial used and estate Magic listing and NO auctions....what you see is what you get at the advertised price.

FAB Magic has some estate magic, too.

Anything in Europe, shipping from the USA too prohibitive.

I just got an email from him this morning with several used and collectible items. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for. You might want to also contact all magic shops that you can find to ask if they have used magic. You should also keep an eye on Ebay in the UK.

Sorry that I know of no dealers in Spain. Maybe some of the more well-traveled Café members can help.

Spain only has a handful of dealers and their prices are more like telephone numbers

Check the other European countries. You guys are as close together as our states are. Shipping can't be that terrible, is it? Dominique Duvivier has a really nice shop in Paris. http://www.mayette.com/ I'd suspect there are more.

The main problema is being on a small island. Even though we are quite close to Barcelona the shipping is terrible, for example a local food importer here pays 120 euros per pallet from the uk to Barcelona, Barcelona to here is 80 euros more on top, so you can see the problema. I ordered a a rainbow deck from the UK before Christmas shipping was 8 euros, for 1 deck of cards !!!

Understood. I have a few customers in SE Asia and shipping there from the US is really high. What one of these customers does is purchases large orders. It's cheaper to ship one heavy box than several lighter ones. It pays to plan ahead, it would seem.
I just Google mapped your island... WOW!! Gorgeous!! It's a trade I think I'd find a way to live with!

Yes Michael, there are worse places to live. The work is getting harder to find now though, when I first lived here 30 years ago I was working the Hotels doing two show a night 7 night a week 11 months of the year, gradually this has got worse over the years and now we are working twice a week if we are lucky for 4 or 5 months of the year. All down to the Hotels going all inclusive, they have no entertaiment in them now. Before I was booked to keep the people in the Hotel spending money, now if I keep them in they drinkmore and the Hotel is losing money. Another down side is that as the work is getting harder to find the acts prices are dropping as they try to secure the wwork, glad I aam not far off retirement now:)

Not totally an uncommon experience. There is a lot to be said for reinventing one's self, and perhaps looking to create new markets. Good luck!

A great source of second hand magic here in the UK is Duncan Trillo's Magic Week site.
http://www.magicweek.co.uk Just click on the for sale/wanted links within the main nav on the left. You'll often find rare props as well as the usual new stuff plus it's updated every other day. Many who post on there often ship worldwide. Hope this helps. Nick

I forgot about Terry's site. This is full of fine vintage items...not cheap, as you can certainly find better bargains...but a lot of great quality props.
