I am so sorry to hear this very sad news.

What a talented man!

I am glad that I posted in this very forum how much I enjoyed his MUM columns and that he was able to read, appreciate and comment on my post as well as the posts of others who really enjoyed his monthly column.

Dennis made his mark in the world of magic and will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and many friends.

I saw posted somewhere an address for his brother or sister. I'll see if I can locate it. There are a couple of his friends here on the Café. If they read this, I am sure they will be able to help.

I have an email address for one of his brothers. I'll need to look it up. I'll post it here tomorrow.

From a post by Dale Lorzo elsewhere on the Café:

"Condolences may be sent to Dennis’ family care of his brother: c/o Mr. Kim Eppard, 504 Black Avenue, Pleasanton, California 94566 or via e-mail to << kimeppard@gmail.com >>."

Dale has informed us that his original message had the wrong house number. It should be 5048, and NOT 504. Sorry for the mistake.

In the current issue of MAGIC magazine, it said Dennis took his own life. Has anyone else heard that?

I saw this as well. Can't find anything else about it though.

Not sure why MAGIC felt the need to print this, since everyone else respected the privacy of the family. At this point, though, all we can do is be in prayer for the family, and for the repose of Dennis' soul. May Almighty God grant him eternal rest.

Denny and I were friends since we met in 1960. I will never forget those wonderful years.

It's sad to learn that some people feel the need to publish this.

Several of my associates were good friends with Dennis. I have heard nothing but positive comments about him and what a wonderful person he was. I surely wish I had gotten to know him myself. He must have been a heck of a guy. We had something of a eulogy by one of our members for Dennis at our last assembly meeting. He is definitely missed by a large number of people.

Bill,

Dick knew him VERY well...and I am sure he could tell us stories for hours and hours of his exploits with Denny.

I am deeply sorry to hear this, and of the circumstances surrounding this tragic loss. One friend said it best when he stated, "this is a permanent solution to a temporary problem."

I had contacted Dennis a year or two ago, and he sent me his DVD with his Doll House illusion plans. Very nicely done, with great detail and care invested into developing this. Dennis also exchanged a number of emails with me regarding his doll house plans. It was quite apparent that Dennis loved this field and was very passionate about everything he did. A tragic loss.

While the decision to publish these circumstances is completely tasteless, one can hope that others might learn from seeing this occur, and that they would know that there are always friends in the magic community that you can reach out to for help. Even a simple post here at the Café would have triggered helpful and caring brothers and sisters to come forward and prevent this tragedy.

Friends, if things ever get that bad, please do reach out and let fellow colleagues know that you are being overwhelmed with your circumstances. People will always come forward to help one way or the other. Please do not take that final step without at least reaching out and asking for a helping hand.
